Using specific cuts and sizes, Traders can recognize other members of the company or dancers and vice versa. Specifically, the eye stripe is cut so it is in the very center of the eye. Stones are perfectly rounded and flat to be set in rings or pendants.
Manufacturing process
The gemstone is cut from surrounding rock and refined by jewelers into a cylindrical shape several inches thick with the eye stripe in the center. The cylinder is then cut into multiple disks to be placed in rings or pendants. A glass dome is fitted over the gemstone to protect it. In recent years, artificial tigers eye have been manufactured by stone mages in order to be 'perfect' for identifiers, making it more difficult for forgeries.
Significance
The Yellow Tiger's eye is used by merchants and Shadow Dancers as a means of identifying members of the Tiger's Eye Trading Company. The Green Tiger's Eye is used by the company and dancers to identify suppliers and informants, members outside of the two groups that are still supporting the two groups. The Silver Tiger's Eye is used by the company, dancers, and support to identify other Shadow Dancers.
