The Sveldvar Rebellion Military Conflict in Eldris | World Anvil

The Sveldvar Rebellion (The S-vel-d-v-are Rebellion)

Once, long ago, Sveldvar's social hierarchy was based on magical ability, with the most powerful mages composing the ruling class. Thoughts and hints of rebellion were crushed by the prospect of facing individuals who could decimate an army alone. Until one day, a way to bring these mages to heel was discovered and implemented. The rebellion was bloody and drawn out, but changed the course of the country forever.

The Conflict

Prelude

Rumors of Sigrún of Vídalín commanding mages as if they were loyal pets spread through Sveldvar. The rebellion sought out the brigands, begging for the means to conquer the mages. Eventually, promises of riches and wealth of the toppled titans convinced her to begin to mass produce these control collars and leads.

Deployment

Gifts of decorative iron linked necklaces were given as offerings to the more prominent mages, tricking them into wearing the means of their demise. With enough of the rulers under control, the rebellion deployed one final assault on their malevolent rulers.

Battlefield

The rebellion chose to assault the capitol during a party hosted by the emperor. The building was quickly brought under lockdown once the first wave of rebels engaged the guard.

Outcome

Overwhelmed by their own collared in the heat of battle and the guests collared by their gifts, the guard failed to protect their charges. The mages who did not die in the bloody assault were collared and brought under control.

Aftermath

Sveldvar's ruling class was quickly decimated, mages sought out and collared. The abusers became slaves to the people they once scorned and a new ruler was put in place. Laws banning the open practice of magic were quickly enacted, all those with magic abilities now collared like pets, closely regulated to prevent them from once again rising to power.
