Battle at Redfort Island

Four days before The Ascent, the then royal fleet of Kiala set sail to conquer a neighbouring kingdoms islands, to use them as staging points for their next attacks at the mainland. During their travels, the ships, with the wind in their backs, quickly managed to complete half of their journey within only three days. On the fourth day however, the winds subsided completely. This would be one of the first signs of the ascent. Shortly after dawn, massive earthquakes created waves the size of fortresses, thrashing the ships around. While destroying many of the fleets vessels in the process, the remaining ones got pushed miles off course. Merely one hour after the earthquakes started, they had lost sight of any allied ships or known landmasses. Unable to control any of their movements, the sea carried them to far eastward.    "Land! Brace!" was all the lookout could muster as it was elevated and slammed ashore, crashing into a large structure unmarked on any maps. After what was left of the ship has somewhat stabilized, the first mate shouted "Headcount!". The responses came slowly, but a surprising amount of crewmembers dug themselves out of the rubble, many wounded.   There were much more dire problems at hand that just wounds, the crew found themselves surrounded by what turned out to be pirates. During the ascent, the ship had crashed onto a hideout they used to plan their assaults on trade ships. Honorbound as their were, the crew did not back down and give into the bandits demands to surrender and a battle ensued.   Taking out as many as they could, both sides sustained many losses, first by the event itself and now by the combat. As the Ascent came to an end, so did the battle. Seeing their crews getting weaker by the minute and with the world seemingly being deadset on ending their lives alltogether, they called a ceasefire.   To this day, this island is not officially united, the tensions never faded, but they work together to survive.
