Lightbrook
Lightbrook was a small village located in Gaulvista on the northeast edge of Alderwood Forest. The village was so named for the offshoot from the river Velter which ran through its center. It was founded in 948 by Lord Meritas Attwell the Youthful and at the time of its destruction was headed by his grandson, Lord Rowan Attwell.
From autumn of 997 to autumn of 998 Lightbrook was plagued with wild animal attacks, which worsened in the final few months of this period. In the last few days, the wolves and bears were joined also by strange creatures made of plant matter. It was discovered that a former inhabitant, Evanora Serger, thought to be dead from one of the earliest attacks, was responsible for the exacerbation of this problem. All in all, there were 24 casualties, civilians and guards included, plus a direct attempt on Lord Merek Attwell's life during the final attack. Immediately following this attack, Merek Attwell stepped down, naming his son, Rowan Attwell, lord of Lightbrook. The attacks ceased, but construction of the wall around the town, which Merek had commissioned a few weeks before, continued, and was finished by that winter.
Evanora was captured by a visiting trio of adventurers during the final assault, but died in her jail cell six days later.
In early 1000, Lightbrook became a casualty of the Eventide, physically collapsing, with many among its population captured and enslaved by nightbringers.
