Infernal Jungle

Impenetrable, Mysterious, Unexplored

The Infernal Jungle makes up the southeast peninsula of Deadmouth Island. It is thick, practically impenetrable in some places and the trees are fed by rich volcanic soil from Mount Rampage's constant low level activity. A light haze of ash speckles the air throughout most of the jungle, which can make it hard to breath. It is an inhospitable environment for most, but there is repute to be a lost city within containing unimaginable treasures. The second dwarven expedition established the settlement of Gun Darim within the jungle around 100 AFL. It was abandoned after less than a generation.

Geography

The Infernal Jungle takes up the southeastern corner of Deadmouth Island. Aside from the imposing Mount Rampage, the terrain is hilly running from river in the north and west to ocean in the south and east.

Fauna & Flora

The interesting flora and fauna in the Infernal Jungle gives the impression of living in a paradise. Practically with every step a new species of plant is revealed. Exotic species of trees, flowers, herbs and spices such as the Yuca root, cinnamon and orchids, that provide the base for many medicines, foods and decorations are found here in their natural environment.   While the flora provides the backdrop, mammals, birds and insects play above, below and alongside anyone journeying through the rich jungle. A dozen types of primates call the Infernal Jungle home, swinging from tree to tree, as birds representing half of Deadmouth Island's avifauna fly overhead. The river dolphin swims the streams, as jaguars and white lipped peccaries hide in the dense forest.

Natural Resources

The Infernal Jungle is a very rich, resourceful area of land. There are huge reserves of bauxite, gold, manganese, nickel, copper, tin, and timber. The land is rich for logging, coffee growing, meat production, and milk production. There are also many plants used for different reasons. For example there are many natural healers; such as using the white trillium flower for healing snake bites. Or the beans from a castor plant to help with sunburn.
