Emperor of the Iron Isle
Appointment
The appointment of the Emperor of the Iron Isle has only happened once and, potentially, may only ever happen this once. After creating the Iron Isle as a safe haven for the vect and warforged that he freed, Metal Ox was declared Emperor in a ceremony including his now subjects as well as the dwarves of Khar-Garom as they were made into tributaries of his new empire.
Responsibilities
The Emperor holds court sessions to listen to grievances and issues so that he may better administrate his realm. As the supreme ruling authority, he has the final say on all decisions but employs a large number of specialized advisors to better inform his decision making on issues he may not be entirely familiar with.
Accoutrements & Equipment
The Emperor wears the crown of Brogûl, a green steel crown of orcish make set with a large diamond, as the main sign of his authority.
History
The title was created by Metal Ox after he had created his floating island, known as the Iron Isle, as a place for his fellow vect to call home. As he was the one to free the vect race from their slavery at the hands of their creators, the mountain dwarves of Khar-Garom, through a vicious and violent assault upon the city-state, he was recognized as their savior and ruler becoming a nearly messianic figure to the construct race. The warforged were very quickly also welcomed into the fold and given the right to live upon the Iron Isle, further bolstering Metal Ox's power and influence.
Cultural Significance
The title holds the most significance to the mountain dwarves, most majorly those of Khar-Garom, as well as members of the construct races, and more specifically the vect and warforged. The mountain dwarves hold two different positions on the title. Some feel remorse, believing that they were wrong for using the vect as laborers and nothing more. Others see the title as an insult. They believe that they should not have to pay tribute to someone who has committed genocide on their people and wiped out the royal bloodline. For the construct races, they generally all feel a great sense of debt and gratitude to Metal Ox as he was able to free them from their binds, have them recognized as independents, and build them a glorious and prosperous future.
