Cadence (High)
Cadence is a high level spell designed to allow a mage to travel back in time, the spell breaks the laws of magical theory in that time travel shouldn't be possible; yet here is a spell that allows it.
When the mage travels into the past, they are unable to use their magic due to the presence of another one of them somewhere in the world. Interaction with their other half causes a paradoxical effect that can shatter the world. Once the spell is cast, the mage has to wait until the universe 'catches up' to the present before they can use their magic again. Any changes they made in the past are reflected in the present, though the repercussions of their actions could take days, weeks, months, or even years to occur.
Due to the spells very nature, it is considered forbidden and no one is permitted to use it. However, this hasn't stopped mages from trying to figure out a way to call upon it. Cadence, upon creation, was purposefully designed to make it difficult to cast by requiring an incantation and requiring the mage to speak the words of the person they are casting the spell on, there are however other requirements.
Side Effects
Unfortunately, time travel is not easy and the universe doesn't typically like it when people reverse the clock. This spell will create a temporal paradox at some random location, whether its on the planet it was used, or some other location in the universe. Another side effect is not knowing whether changing the past will result in something good or bad happening in the present.Source
Cadence get's its power from two magical sources: Kai and Aether. Kai is used to create the actual spell itself from its entirety, while Aether is needed in order to travel back in time to the point that the mage desires.Components
Cadence requires only one organic component in order to work: Blood. It needs the blood of the person with whom the mage is using Cadence on (to travel back to, such as before a terrible event) and the blood of the mage casting the spell to be mixed together.Outside Components
This spells requires two other things in order to function, the first being a Temporal Rift and a great deal of Sacred Energy .Temporal Rifts
Temporal Rifts are in vital for this spell to function, as mages need an active rift in order to travel through time. An active rift requires to any rift that exists in a place that a mage has actually physically been in their life, this means that if a rift is in an area that they themselves never visited then they can't use that rift.Sacred Energy
A great deal of Sacred Energy is required in order to cast Cadence, the actual amount is unknown as no one who has used this spell has ever come forward.Uses
The spell can be used to travel back into the past to prevent a disaster, such as stopping a person from being killed, or potentially even preventing a war. However, the Universe hates this spell and will always try to find a way to make something that it wants, happen.
