Sacred Energy
Sacred Energy is the term the universe gives toward anything that is used to supply magic; however, other species, nations, and disciplines have other names for it, examples being Aether, Kai, Chi, etc.
Within the universe, Sacred Energy comes from a pool; a pool of energy that exists all around the universe. Anyone with magic can draw from it, though usually only from the edges, as the closer to the center of the 'pool' that a person gets the purer the magic. This pool, however, can become tainted. Within the universe, the closer this pool is to a negative source, the more tainted it becomes, and if a mage were to draw from this tainted section of the pool; their magic and their very life will become affected.
The pool, as it is known by magic users, is broken up into several rings. The outer ring is known as raw energy, this is the most common area in which a mage draws their magic from, it is also the most likely area to be tainted. This outer ring extends for some distance into the pool, before it arrives at a section known as the 'aerated energy', this energy is not raw but it isn't pure either, but for any mage that can access it is gives great benefits to their magic. The last is the center which is known as 'pure energy'. Pure energy can't be tainted, mages that can access it are able to cast spells of immense power or benefit, depending on the spell.
However, this pool isn't the only source for Sacred Energy. Another source are Sacred Relics. Sacred Relics are quite rare as they were created by an ancient race and imbued with pure energy, their existence isn't known to most races out-there, although Daemon's are aware of them and actively attempt to corrupt them.
There is another kind of energy, known as Lytherica, that is above this. It is rare and considered a myth by most.
