The Laws of EDEN Undone
The world is made of Aether, 'soul stuff', that comes in seven resonances and is the basis for many supernatural phenomena, influencing the world for better or for worse. Phenomena are common and are affecting everyone like weather or natural calamities; they are part of the economy of the world and can yield fruitful bounties or be devastating catastrophies.
Everything in this reality and the next is made of Aether, and certain people possess the ability to influence said Aether substance and bend it to their will based on certain criteria and techniques. 1 out of 100 possesses this ability. To understand Aether as natural law & pehnomenon is both a science and a faith for different cultures in the world.
Apart from the meta-realm, or the world of flesh that's close to our real world in it's mundane appearance, there are several other layers of reality that can be assessed; and exist in correlation with each other. Traversing these worlds is also a privilege of those who can wield hexes to control Aether.
Cosmology
The world of EDEN Undone has been created in a cataclysmic event that ended our known world on a meta-physical level. Everything was undone, sent through the mixer and then, via a big bang scenario reborn and re-assembled from scrambled fragments of memories, identity and matter.
Every culture in EDEN has a slightly different view on how that exactly went down, but they all agree on a couple of facts:
- After death, souls enter a cycle of rebirth.
- Before this world cycle, there was another.
- The world is made from 7 Aether resonances.
- The world is layered like an onion with one, mundane reality being the center, expanding in at least 3 further layers that expand indefinitely into 'space'.
Principal Geography & Features
The world's geography is central Europe with a supernatural twist. Some real-world-facts have been changed for worldbuilding and/or dramaturgic effect. And as detailed before, a supernatural layer to the world exists that influences the mundane at all times.
Initial Active Setting
The scale is the European continent; including the baltics, larger taiga and tundra area, down to the eurasian steppes, the balkan, mediterranean and North African continent.
