Damhsa Diamant (Dow-sa Dee-uh-mont)

On the 16th of Drying Summer, the midpoint of the summer months, both of Edda's moons are full and bright. This feature, along with being the very middle of the season has led to the lively and spritely festival of Damhsa Diamant or Diamond Dance.   This day-long festival begins with greeting dances and a communal breakfast in the early morning, leading to a parade festival from noon to the afternoon, with various storytellers and singers filling out festivities until the sun finally begins to set, which will begin several fire pit dances, culminated all by a calmer and more somber communal dinner in the evening with dances featuring glowing moon crystals to catch the light of both full moons.   Most cities in Avalon will hold this festival, but the capital of Ambrosious is where the largest gathering takes place.

History

The festival of the dance stretches far back into the history of Avalon, with some records reporting that it predated the spread of The Cabal of The Night Sky. Its execution has remained mostly the same, although the stories, dances, and feasts featured are always different and changing.

Execution

The three dances are meant to represent the rising, peak, and setting of the sun. The act of dancing and storytelling is meant to channel the energy and ingratiate the love of Damhsa, the Goddess of Dance herself. Meanwhile, the specific dances and stories told are meant to do the same for Diamant, the God of Sunlight. With the two acting in unison, if everything goes well, it's meant to signify that both deities will ensure happiness and clear skies for the coming year. The feasts were added in the past century to add the sense of community unity in this act as well.
