Loria

Loria as seen from space 4 years ago.

Introduction

Loria is a Rocheron-like world that lies in the Kevlor 19 system. It has one primitive civilization on it, which is currently going through an industrial age. The planet is well known in recent history for being the site of a major battle during The 17th Galactic War, and being the starting location for the war's inciting incident.

Description:

Loria is mostly ocean, with 26% of its surface covered with continents. Most of its inhabitants, known as raylors, live in either the lush equatorial forests or the banks of Loria's many rivers. The planet contains a breathable atmosphere, but it is slowly being polluted with carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses from the raylor's primitive industrial machines.

Inhabitants:

Raylors are a humanoid mammalian species, bearing similarities to some of the ancestors of the members of the homo genus (Human, Lashunta, and space orcs). Most of their bodies are covered in fur that can range in color from black to brown. Their bald heads have two small horns protruding out of them, which protected them from their now extinct predators during their stone age. Raylors possess remarkable strength for species of their profile, which helps them perform physical tasks in their lives liek construction.   Loria is currently divided into 86 countries, which can further be divided into 9 main groups of allies. Over half of the countries have embraced the new technology of the industrial age, which is mostly used to power steam engines and clockwork machinery. The frequency of warfare on Loria is average for a primitive planet in the industrial age.

Historical Importance:

Loria was the site of a major battle during The 17th Galactic War. Federal and Arian ships breached galactic law and used a remote location on the planet to store soldiers and supplies. Imperial ships attacked the ships in orbit of Loria in order to remove them from the planet and preserve the safety of the native inhabitants. While the imperial offensive was successful, a careless federal missile deorbited an imperial ship, which plummeted towards a densely inhabited city below. Thanks to the bravery of one imperial officer, very few primitive lives were claimed by the crash. Because raylor culture was much less developed than it is today, it is unlikely that the raylors have many or any records of the event surviving today.   While Kevlor 19 was once a popular tourist destination, the development of telescopes by many raylors have prompted the imperial government to ban travel to the system to avoid cultural contamination.
