Spoon

Physical Description

Spoon is a goblin. The most immediately noticeable features are that she is very small (usually anywhere between 1" and 1'), and has a tuning fork jammed into her skull.   Her weapons of choice are a spork-wand, a cruel barbed dagger and a makeshift crossbow - all of which are always on her person. Her figure is frequently blurred thanks to a mossy, moldy cloak on her back, and her clothing shifts according to her mood or intent, alternating between ragged goblin scrap-clothing, dark roguish leathers, a dark-gray archmagi's cloak, or a child's pink dress. At her side is a mildly torn and stitched-up bag of holding, a huge number of goblin trinkets (including a necklace of unmentionables), and a bandolier containing an armada of wands.   Spoon is often seen stalking around town accompanied by a number of rats, tiny stupid goblin minions, and/or an unruly awakened bush.   Her most treasured items are the tuning fork in her head, the spork-wand she wields, her bag of holding containing a variety of gross and weird items, her cloak, and her artificial heart.

Personality

Mannerisms and Disposition

  • Exhibits all the usual traits and mannerisms of a feral goblin, albeit one that has learned to live a better life and fit in with 'regular' society.
  • Is truly chaotic, often desiring destruction and violence just to see if the result is entertaining.
  • Often bears the standard goblin expression of a scowl, but is very clearly unhinged - a twitchy and paranoid individual that often has conversations with unseen partners.
  • Cruel to those that she dislikes and indifferent to almost everyone else.
  • She has very little capacity for emotional attachment, and even less capacity for romantic attachment.
  • Not very strong or book-smart, but she is lightning quick when needed, and reasonably dextrous and sneaky.
  • While her general goblinery is genuine, she often uses or plays it up to catch foes (or friends) unawares. She is a master at conversation - especially at deception, lies and trickery.
  • Despite her potential for being awful she is still a young girl, and so loves revelry, fun and laughter. Her means to satisfy these desires can seem very unorthodox though, ranging from weirdly innocent and charming (like shaking rocks together in her fist) to violent and destructive (like raining eldritch meteors down on a forest).

Backstory

Spoon's life had been unfortunate to say the least. Born into a group of goblins ruled over by a hag keen on experimenting with magic, her kin were used as servants, defenders and frequently; test subjects.   She spent most of her life as an unnamed, wretched creature. Not particularly specialized in anything that might help the hag, so her jobs were mostly menial tasks. She was never smart enough to understand what the hag's magical experiments were about, but she knew it had something to do with something called the 'Far Realm', and an attempt to gain power from it. This was her life for many years. Boring, simple, and pathetic. There was some solace in the fact that she was largely protected from the calamity by the hag, who slew any creatures affected by the Calamity.   Her recent history became remarkably more exciting though. The hag had developed a crooked, hag-made tuning fork to connect to the Far Realm. The magic ultimately didn't work, and in a fit of rage the hag lashed out at the nearest thing to her, jamming the janky tuning fork into the unnamed goblin's skull.   This came with the expected pain and rage that being attacked in such a way does, but the goblin experienced something more. Visions of nightmare, darkness, unnamed horror, the intricacies of the Weave. The goblin had no understanding of this, and her brain should have melted. Instead, the fork acted as some kind of grounding instrument for whatever magic was conducted. Turns out, the fork worked and the goblin was the last component! Unfortunately this also caused the goblin to explode with magical energies, disintegrating the hag, the house, and her entire tribe.   The goblin looked around, dusting herself off. She set out to live a new life, naming herself 'Spoon' after the instrument still jammed in her brain.
