Dena Merillin

Physical Description

Dena stands 2'11" and barely breaks 40 pounds. Her hair is blonde and her eyes are a deep brown. Her skin is gently tanned and her ears come to a slight point. She is almost always wearing her fabulous coat. It is a quilted coat of purple and blue with fur trimming that is lined with hidden studded leather armor, a cloak of protection, and uncommon glamerweave. She typically wears a pink waistcoat over a white blouse under the coat with purple pants and brown boots. Dena's hair is usually up in a bun with a purple headband and she just about always has an instrument of some kind in her hands.

Personality

Dena is a bard through and through. She delights in nothing more than telling stories and singing songs that bring other people joy. To her, music is a connecting force for good that helps people feel welcome, respected, and loved. She giggles often and eats heaps and heaps of food. When she isn't playing an instrument or telling a story, she is likely to be reading one of her favorite stories or something she hasn't seen before, but even that usually doesn't last long before she's humming to herself or tapping a rhythm.

Reputation

Dena knows so many instruments. If anyone wants to hear a song, story, or particular instrument she's the one to go to. Additionally, her bar, Swallow's Pride, is a beloved place for self expression where all attendees are encouraged to perform some variety of personal art in an environment of support. She loves to cook and is always looking to make folks feel welcome no matter where she is. She is not yet known throughout the universe and she likely never will be, but her work will be when its done.

Relationships

Dena has many great friendships, but Quinn is her best friend. Serj is a close second, and she has yet to admit to herself that she has a bit of a crush on him. She has her two mules that draw her cart, Shamrock and Mandarb, that she loves dearly. Her now ex, Constance, still weighs heavy on her mind.

Backstory

Dena comes from a small town of halflings and her family runs a successful chain of taverns focused on providing services for adventurers in small villages all over the Sword Coast. She was supposed to be a part of that empire but chose school instead with her parents' intention being she would study something 'worthwhile' and join the family business after graduation. Dena convinced them to go on a trip around the globe as a graduation gift and the last stop of that trip was Vareholm where she stayed behind.
