Legend Lore: Ellisar Farrie, the Powdersmith
Ellisar Farrie is the oldest of the Powdersmiths, legendary smiths who have been visited by manifestations of Epic Muses. Farrie was visited by Detona, and so helped push the limits of innovations, creating Combustion Energy and advancing Mundane Munitions Weapons. With Farrie at the head of the Gilnaith Research and Development lab, the city created many powerful artifacts; such as the Blade of the Storm Tamer and the Scrying Spyglass.
“I wish I could keep us armed.”Ellisar Farrie was a family name in the Oshran Empire, one of the greatest enchanters and smiths, heading up most of the arcane advancements in Gilnaith, the Star Spear. As Aspects of Tharizdun began to crop up, Cleansing Storms ravaged the land - eradicating droves of travellers, forcing the cities to lock down any overland travel. While the Brightwoods continued to expand their campaign of disinformation and fearmongering, Ellisar was emboldened by the Lightbearers who worked at her side. She reached out to Pikyr, the Enlightened - and prayed for her guidance. Pikyr had no reason to deny her exactly what she desired - and introduced Farrie to Detona, a ‘Mortal God’. Reclusive and seldom seen, Detona offered Ellisar the tools required to defeat the Aspects of Tharizdun - but it required work. And power. And a heavy price - paid in blood. The Phylactery Plates she crafted were only meant to keep the Oshrans who fought for order safe. But when they died, Ellisar couldn’t meld the Plates with the dead Flesh; and created constructs to house the souls of the Oshrans inside each plate. And this worked, for a time - until the constructs died, again and again. The souls would lose a little of themselves every time they were brought back - until they resembled the hulking constructs more than the elves they were born from. As the months turned to years, Ellisar was forced to attach herself to more of Gilnaiths wares, technologic, Arcanum - until trapped in a prison of her own design, fruitlessly making new devices, new technologies, new weapons - all in a desperate attempt to beat back the storms. She died when usurped by Edward de Vecht, and claimed by the Umbral Court for failing to help the Empire in time to save them.
“Then let me introduce you to a friend of mine.”
