Item Crafting

How to Craft an Item

A character must obtain or borrow the necessary tools or kit in order to craft an item (confirm with a Staff Member if a kit or tool is applicable to your desired item if you are unsure). To calculate how many Crafting Points are needed to craft an object first determine the cost of the item, and then divide that by 2.
Example: Sam wants to create 2 shields. A single shield costs 10gp, so we divide that by 2 to get the amount of Crafting Points necessary and get 5. Therefore, Sam will have to generate 5 Crafting Points to finish a single shield, 10 Crafting Points to finish 2 shields, 15 Crafting Points for 3, etc...

Adding To An Existing Object

To add to an existing Object, a character can use Crafting Points to do so, assuming that the object in question logically combines with the one you are trying to craft (e.g. breastplate into full plate). To calculate the amount of Crafting Points needed to complete crafting is very similar to above, except that you will subtract the amount of crafting points that are already finished in the item in question from what you need to craft the finished item.   Example:Sam wants to turn his breastplate armor into a set of full plate. So, first, we figure out the cost of full plate: 1500gp. Half of 1500 is 750, so it will take 750 crafting points to complete. Then we calculate how many Crafting Points the breastplate already has, which will contribute to the construction. Breastplate costs 400gp, therefore it generates 200 Crafting Points. Now, to figure out how many crafting points it takes to make breastplate into full plate, we subtract the crafting points that breastplate has (200) from the amount of crafting points needed to complete a set of full plate (750). This gives us 550 crafting points. So, Sam will need to be crafting a while until he generates 550 Crafting Points to complete his armor.

Is There Any Way to Speed up the Process?

  • Throw money at your problem and make it go away. You can exchange 2 gp for 1 CP as you pay others to do parts of a job for you.
  • Use materials found on missions. The DM can tell you how many Crafting Points such items are worth after the session
  • Characters can team up to build things, pooling their Crafting Points together.
  •

    Miscellaneous

  • Shops consider Character-made items “used” and will only buy at the usual 1/2 list price.
  • Proficiency is not needed to craft Common items unless specified by a rule book or DM (When in doubt, ask).
  • Unfinished Items can be sold for their Crafting Point value.
  • Unused or excess CP may be exchanged for gold at a 1:1 ratio.
  •

    Example

Example Character: Kara Ironfist (Dex=2 STR=3 CHA=-1) is a Mercenary Veteran with proficiency in Games & Vehicles .
    • Roll 1: RP Kara Ironfist wants to make a set of fine clothes.
    • Roll 1: Downtime Roll: !r 1d20 + 2 (Dex Stat Mod) + (0 Prof with Weaver or Disguise)
    • Roll 1: Result: roll of 17+3 = 20. Fine clothes list cost is 15gp. Kara can have 2 sets of fine clothes @7.5gp each and 5 crafting points left over, OR 1 set of fine clothes and 12.5gp left over.
    • Roll 2: RP Kara Ironfist wants to assist Vistra Holderhek in making a set of chain mail.
    • Roll 2: Kara Downtime Roll: /r 1d20 + (3 STR Mod) + (0 no prof with Smith tools)
    • Roll 2: Vistra Downtime Roll: /r 1d20 + (3 STR Mod) + (2 prof with Smith tools)
    • Roll 2: Result: Vistra has 10+5 and Kara’s 10+3 (total 28) Crafting Points toward completing a set of chain mail. Once Vistra has accumulated 75/2= 37.5 Crafting Points, he will have 1 set of chain mail armor.
