Tech Level

The general technology level of Earthship Ark is 7B (as defined in W.O.I.N. N.E.W.). That defines the maximum availability for equipment.
This level of technology includes energy weapons and sub-lightspeed travel to nearby star systems. The “feel” of the technology is similar to Star Trek but less advanced.
Some biospheres have a lower tech level, all the way down to 0 for wilderness biospheres.
There is no Ark-wide internet - computer networks are limited - but there are biosphere-wide intranets and smartphones.
Artificial Gravity is used in the biospheres and transport tubes. Hoverboards exist but not gravbelts.

PC Equipment

The PCs will start the campaign with no equipment. Some equipment will be available for scavenging in Service Areas, which the PCs can find shortly after the campaign begins. Equipment will be available for purchase in some biospheres.
Money can be carried in datakeys. This currency will be accepted in any high-tech biosphere (not very realistic maybe, but convenient for the game). Low-tech biospheres will not use datakey currency, only gold coins. These may be exchanged in a high-tech biosphere.

Weapon Slang

Ignore the nonsense on N.E.W. p. 102. Suggested instead: “slugthrower,” “stunner,” “laser,” “sonic,” “cryo.”
