35: Up the River
General Summary
Nightstone is in the midst of its Summer Festival, an annual tradition of the season but this time also celebrating the town's resilience after the Attack on Nightstone. Before joining the festivities, Garin confides in Navy to magically conceal his left arm. The party takes in the vibrancy of the town, playing carnival games and testing their skills in friendly competitions. They encounter many familiar faces, like Elisa, Mullen, Simon and Harshnag.
After resting at Nightstone Inn, the party decides to investigate the incident with the Oracle and King Hekaton's disappearance, having divined that the king is alive, missing, has no living family members and that Iymrith plays some nefarious role in it all. However, before departing, the party tries to resolve Auntie Olga's deal and asks Elisa for permission to use one of her children. Elisa vehemently rejects, scolding them for using others to solve the problems they've caused. After leaving the homestead, Ahriman insists on sharing the burden and carrying the chained lead box housing the cursed doll.
The party begins traveling northward, along with Harshnag. After deliberations at the Cem River, they opt for the main road towards Glaisein and an opportunity to see Eilidh again. Harshnag will await the party outside the massive gates, having shared that the dwarven city has a complicated relationship with frost giants, before taking them to the highest peak of the Snowshield Mountains.
