Marru Empire
The Marru Empire was a Human empire located on the southern continent. At it's height, the Marru Empire ruled the modern day lands of Seretis, Maliq, and Al-Badir. The Empire was a fierce rival of the Lurian Empire.
The Marru Empire was ruled by a series of sorcerer pharaohs, who made pacts for powers with the dark gods. Eventually, one of the pharaohs angered the god Wakash, the Winter Night by trying to steal his power. In divine retribution, Wakash cursed the lands of the Marru. In his curse, the land, already dry, became a desolate desert. Predatory and venomous creatures like snakes and scorpions became common. The Empire collapsed soon after as its cities were buried under the sands and the people died.
In Seretis, the remaining sorcerers were able to make a new pact with Wakash, and in doing so, became the first Yuan-Ti. The lands now known as Maliq were narrowly saved by the arrival of an Absyunic crusade. Al-Badir was founded by other survivors, who sought new livelihoods on the ocean.
