Wakash

Wakash is a god of nature. He represents the end of the natural cycle: death. Wakash is found in the chill of winter. the bite of the wolf, and the venom of the snake.   The Marruspawn and Yuan-Ti are devoted to Wakash and his children, created in his image to invoke his wrath. Others might pray to Wakash for leniency - they may offer him a sacrifice to spare their own lives. Druids may revere Wakash as a part of the natural order. He is held as an equal god of nature in the Skjoldr druidic tradition.    Wakash is a cold, uncaring god. His holy places are the places of natural death: the burning deserts, far from water; the icy tundra, far from heat; the endless jungle, far from home.

Divine Domains

The domains of Wakash are Grave and Nature.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The symbols of Wakash are the skulls of predatory animals. Priests of Wakash will often bear the skulls of snakes, wolves, bears, or other creatures depending on their homeland.

Tenets of Faith

All things end. Followers of Wakash know that all things eventually wither, decay, and finally, die. They do not fear death but see it as a part of the natural cycle. They see undeath as an abomination, an enemy of death itself.   Death provides for the living. Followers of Wakash have no qualms about killing for survival. Kill or be killed is the natural order.   Death culls the weak from the herd. Followers of Wakash know that death is a way to cull the weak and strengthen the living. A lion only kills the slowest gazelle, allowing the others to be faster. A plague removes the unhealthy, only leaving the healthy behind. A forest fire burns away the dry and the rotted, allowing for new growth.

Personal history

Wakash is the son of Kimula and sibling of the other major nature gods, Kotala, Teratharok, and Sakira. His children include Auril, goddess of winter; the Broodmother, goddess of vermin; and others.   In 5889, the Magi-Pharaoh of the Marru Empire tried to steal the god Wakash's power. He failed. Angered, Wakash cursed the Pharaoh and his lands to a thousand thousand years of blight. Known as the Blight Curse of Wakash, the curse caused arable lands to turn to desert. Wakash turned the people into abominations of beast and man in his image, including the Yuan-Ti, Scorpionfolk, and the Marruspawn.
