Southern Sister Peaks

A mountain range in the middle of Obeavos and bordering The Darkwood Forest, with its southern tip meeting the Aarasyl Desert. 
Named for an ancient religious rumor, the Southern Sister Peaks are some of the oldest mountains on the continent. Legends say that two primordial sisters once shared and ruled over the lands of Obeavos. They squabbled often, however, getting in heated wrestling matches, and pushing up the earth into mountainous peaks when they did so. This continued until the Prime Deities, in an effort to avoid any more harm to the mortals who lived in the region, struck the sisters down, leaving an empty, flat plane between the two mountain ranges.
Despite the legends, the Southern Sister Peaks are much, much older than their northern counterpart. They also have extensive natural caverns and caves that reach deep into the earth, dipping into the underdark often and without warning. Abarrations, monsters, and dark entities are found often within their depths, many of which can easily find their way to the surface along the ridges.
While not nearly as tall or cold as the Northern Sister Peaks, the Southern Sisters sport much denser forests, making travel across them hazardous and slow. The mountains also curve in a narrow horse-shoe, revealing a valley within, though high mineral deposites over years of rainfall have left the ground acidic and caused the trees that once grew there to dry up and die.
Like the Northern Sisters, the Southern Sisters can produce large amounts of granite and marble, as well as larger deposites of silver, gold, and platinum. However due to the dangers of attempting to mine on an industrial level within the natural caves and caverns, much of the potential wealth has not been recovered.
