Royal-Proteans
Royal Proteans are an extinct(almost) species. They are commonly known to be myths by modern Dun'Ia. All the modern Proteans(Proto-proteans, Nomad Proteans, Half-bloods) are known to devolve(or derive) from royal Proteans.
They were mutated from ancient humans and became the dominant specie in the world for some time. Royal-Proteans lived in a giant mountain called The Throne. The throne was arctic for centuries(About -240) and proved to be an optimal location for their anatomy. However, as time passed, Dun'Ia became warmer and The throne with it.
What made them different from others wasn't necessarily how they looked but their strange senses, effects on others, potentially infinite lifespans, and frequency of mutation. Their bodies could mutate and optimize themselves to the harshest of (that's how the nomad and Proto-Proteans come into light)conditions. Yet some were exempted from this mutation. They were called Permans.
Their feelings and thoughts left a residual energy, like a subtly felt preservative gas. This connected them to each other like a hive mind and created subsequent connections to the other proteans and sometimes humans. The longer they remain in an area, their ability to mutate and adapt to the environment declines. But their link to each other would strengthen. Colloquially, this web of connection is called ''The Stream''.
They send individuals to the outside world to present themselves as deities to other species. Proving their ''divinity'' by using their effects to control others for their benefit. So they could own all of the delicacies, luxuries, and opportunities Dun'Ia has to offer. They were successful for hundreds of thousands of years. In time they became too comfortable and pampered, viewing humans and other emerging species(Nomad-Proteans, Half-bloods) as inferior species.
A conflict between sky and earth(their belief system) resulted in a large group of Royal proteans leaving the throne and settling in far away, hidden places, of caves, mountains, hills, and underground crevices. Where they build complexes called Vergs. These Proteans from Vergs mutated into modern Proto-proteans.
In the last part of their existence, their population was culled by the separations, lowered birthrate resulted from the average temperature of Dun'Ia rising.
They were extinct by genocide. A genocide by Nomad-proteans, Half-Bloods, and their human followers. Royals slowly disconnected from the outside world, drunk with power and vanity. Their lack of care for these numerous and powerful ''inferior'' species would result in them uniting and attacking the throne. Killing (almost) everyone residing on the throne.
In their last moments, Royal Proteans experienced the last joint mutation. ''The Flowering'', their blood started to generate pollen-like leaves; They scattered all around Dun'Ia. Centuries later, a subspecies of proteans called ''Children'' was born as its result. Children maintained a link with the Stream and all the remaining(and some dead) Royal Proteans.

Anatomy
Royal Protean specie existed in a single place(The throne). Their ability to mutate was extremely stable as long as they stayed on The throne. Yet once they leave, their mutation rate would increase by the unexpected factors they'd keep some of their abilities.
Once on the throne, their life would be comfortable, so their mutations would concentrate on cerebral development. Yet their physical development would limit itself, so they could be easily sustained.
They were usually slim built. But their bodies were very dense, so they were heavy.
They can potentially live forever.
Biological Traits
They'd have the potential to live forever. Yet most would develop an original type of disease, which would define their life expectancy. About 10000 years.
Genetics and Reproduction
Their reproduction changed in time.
At the first years, they reproduced similar to humans.
But as the birth rates started to fall, they collectively mutated; So their females could impregnate other females as well.
But this decline in birth rate, kept going and at the fall of the Throne, only 1 in a century could born. So they turned to preservation.
Growth Rate & Stages
They complete their pyhsical growth at the age of 22-25. Their mental growth takes approximately 200 years to complete; Once it is complete, their mutation rate would start to fall.
Ecology and Habitats
At extreme colds, they function best; Easily repopulate, their minds and abilities function most precise.
Hot air hinders them; Their minds would daze. Their abilities could act strangely, compromising their behaviors. Their birth rates would start to fall, to a point of 1 offspring in 100 years(From a million). Their mutation rate would become more unpredictable and unstable.
Some of the Royal Proteans abandoned the Throne. They called themselves Proto-Proteans and moved to underground caves and similarly isolated places. After this, their bodies started to reproduce asexually. Yet the reproduction rate was lowest among all Protean-born species and would leave them vulnerable to diseases.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Ideal food for Royal Proteans is a kind of mushroom, naturally grown on Thrones ice sheet. It is similar to a mushroom that doesn't spoil and keeps growing, regardless of being picked. Later, a similar food was given periodically to half-bloods by Stellarch. Naishans called it Life seeds.
Yet Royal-Proteans were omnivores and could sustain with anything.
Biological Cycle
The older they get, their abilities grow, yet it eventually reaches a point where they can't truly control. Their perception and mind widen, making them trapped in their own minds or visions of afar; Their movement becomes increasingly involuntary.
Also, their mutation rates start to decrease, but never truly stop.
Behaviour
They don't believe in family. The parent is the tribe master's obligation is to look after every apprentice.
They have 3 belief systems. So little is known about it in modern times. Because they mainly relied on simple ideas. And leave the rest to individual interpretations.
''The Sky'': Birth and death must be under the open sky. The ones who exist as lived free in life in death in eternity.
''The Earth'': The earth is under our feet, from the rocks to beneath. In death, we lie on it, so we can be the pillars of the eternal life above.
''The Eye'': Life, death, sky, and earth is irrelevant. What we take from life matters. Those are the ones we bring to freedom beyond death.

They'd have a chief, followers and citizens.
Followers would advise the Chief. Yet time to time, they'd give right to speak to citizens as well. Chief and followers would vote; Chiefs vote would be counted as 3 follower vote.
Yet outside of decisions, there would be no exact lines on whose superior to others. Their merit, ideas and likeability would play crucial roles on how they were perceived.
Being Chief was a lifetime commitment, yet first followers could change if voted out or if decided by Chief.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Almost all parts of their bodies could be used for alchemy. Yet because of their numbers and unavailibility no one learned its potential.
Facial characteristics
Their heads would be slightly bigger in proportion to human. But the difference is feint, most of the times indistinct.

Royal proteans would only live in the mountain called The Throne, located at modern day Gracina.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Some Royal Proteans had an ability called ''Travelling Perception''. Those with this ability could carry their perception center anywhere. They smelled, saw, heard, and felt other places as if they were physically there. This ability was used to observe the rest of the Dun'Ia.
They also could influence others, observe their psyche and hear the whispers of their inland empires. They could affect or scare others, hear the most intimate thoughts, detect their exact current feeling, or how they felt at a specific time of their lifetime. This ability is called ''Clairancy'' (Clairancy is empathy, telepathy, telekinesis, cronovision, and visceravision combined into a complex, hard-to-learn, harder-to-master, ability)
Finally, they could access The Stream. It was an invisible web of information, feelings, thoughts, and personas from all lived and living Royal-Proteans. It was a place of infinite knowledge and abstract things.

History
Thanks to The Stream, people, and community could work together efficiently in Royal Protean society. They could share each other's thoughts and judge the decisions by involving everyone like a single mind.
They use their gifts to dominate the human population. They would send Permans to human communities to display their ''divinity'' and control them. Via their abilities, The Throne would remain in close contact with the sent, feed them needed information, or reveal plots.
Although their dominion was strong, time and again, humans would revolt. At the first rebellion, they lost 4 Royal-Proteans. As a result, some young and angry Royal-Proteans left to take revenge, despite the act being forbidden by The Chief. Once they quelled the rebellion, they were changing, mutating. Once came back to The Throne, they weren't let in by The Chief and followers. Some other emphatic young Royals(Earth) decided to leave with the unallowed. They became the first Nomad-Protean Horde. Their birthrate would begin to climb once they start breeding with humans. Some offsprings would be born Nomad-Proteans the rest would be Half-Bloods. By the end of Royal-Protean dominancy, there were 3 hordes, numbering over 6 million Nomad-Proteans, holding enmity toward Royal-Proteans.
As the world got warmer, Royal-Protean's birth rate reached record lows. In their last era, only 1 child could be born in a century. They needed a solution. Their population was about 2 million, all living in the now warmer Throne. They built an underground city of infinite complexion, intellect, and sensibility, one end reaching the top of the mountain and the other end hundreds of meters underground.
As the world got warmer, the human and half-blood population living under Royal Protean rule grew further.
Following them, a relatively young Royal named Daah, using the means of belief(Earth), accumilated a large follower base. With his newfound power, he called for a vote to make himself the chief and lost the election. So he took his followers(About 500 thousand) and left The Throne to find colder lands. They became Proto-proteans.
Thousands years later, an eastern Half-blood named Qi started the last rebellion. Millions of Nomads, humans, and Half-Bloods, followed Qi against Royal-Protean and attacked the Throne. After a year-long siege, The Throne fell. The whole population, all Men, Women, and children was slaughtered.
Over 1 and a half million Royal-Protean was killed in 3 days. Only 3 Perman survived the slaughter.
