Nomad-Proteans

During the first rebellion under Royal-Protean dominancy, most Royal-Proteans prefered to resolve the issue using calm and logical methods... However, some young residents prefer to use violence. Under the leadership of a young man named Yanneq, about 100 Royal-Proteans left The Throne to wreak havoc on humans for months, utilizing chaos and terror tactics. Once the rebellion was quelled(and humans were punished beyond reason), Yanneq and his followers wanted to return home. After a discussion, Throne decided not to let them in. Sympathizers decide to leave and join Yanneq's band. Ere the first Nomad Horde was formed. Homeless, they began to mutate in the coming years. Started to adapt to a much unexpected and dangerous lifestyle. After a while, Nomads were an easily distinguishable specie from the Royal Proteans. They became Nomad-Proteans.   Unlike Royal-Proteans, they were muscularly built, tall, and wide-chested. Developing natural abilities rather than studied techniques. They became experts at natural alchemy and invented new techniques.   Their relationship with Royal-Proteans has had its ups and downs. They shared a similar superiority complex and pride with them for a time. But their constant contact with other species softened them. They began to see them in a new light.   Their base desires and high sex drives resulted in them breeding with humans. The children were sometimes human, sometimes Nomad-Protean, and sometimes Half-Bloods. Half-Bloods acted as a new bridge between humans and Nomad-Proteans. As Nomads got closer to humans and Half-Bloods, they became more distant to Royal-Proteans. (Which was to conclude with Royal-Proteans being massacred by combined armies.)   Nomads constant traveling resulted in their abilities becoming more immediately beneficial. While Royals had more complex and extensive mental capabilities, which were harder to learn. Compared, Nomads had simpler yet more active and easier-to-use abilities. They could use it to receive more information about an area. They could communicate with animals, plants, and trees. Also, their continuous social interactions with humans and other beings developed their social skills and aesthetics to develop.   While Royal Proteans and Proto-Proteans approached alchemy scholarly and scientifically, Nomads approached it spiritually. Nomads had practical abilities; They couldn't share each other's complex thoughts and emotions. But they still held rudimentary skills, mostly in literary information; Each other's locations, health, or do they require assistance...   Modern Nomads are known to be very passionate and instinctual. They follow their momentary decisions and emotions. Which might result of them doing something regretful.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Mostly tall, wide-chested, muscular, and very strong. They moved very silently, regardless of the environment. And could easily climb anywhere and shift the weight distribution on their bodies. Their skeletons were very light yet durable; Their bones consisted of a substance called MetalWeb. It's a valuable alchemical substance.   They would get physically active at the age of 4 and would be independent from the age of 13.   They could potentially live forever.

Biological Traits

Nomads can potentially live forever. Extremely desirable by other people. They live in small to mid size groups(packs and parties) and are constantly in communication with others. Yet time to time, they might meet up, forming giant armies(Herds).   They have some passive abilities; Changing their body weight for very short amounts of time, being able to sustain without food or water, for weeks at a time, on average requiring a couple of hours of sleep in a month, and moving constantly(Staying somewhere for a maximum week at a time)...

Genetics and Reproduction

They'd reproduce like humans. Yet they didn't had a family structure. A children is a children of the tribe. Their birth rate was also very low, yet steady. Could change depending on their contact with humans, half-bloods and geography.

Growth Rate & Stages

Nomads would grow faster than most species. Would complete their physical growth in the age of 15-17. They'd became sexually active whence they were in their 30s. Their mental growth was never completed, their mutation rate was also relatively low but much more steady.

Ecology and Habitats

They'd prefer to live in forests and jungles. Living on top of carefully picked trees. Their choice of clothing would also be living trees, grown in their bodies, so they could be well optimized.   However, they were optimized to be in a constant move. So staying in a specific place for too long(weeks mostly) would cause them to be uneasy and volatile. They'd need to burn off their surplus energy.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Meat would be their preferred food. Their predator instincts improved as they hunted. The Nomad way of hunting differs from most other Proteans or humans; They hunt naked, without using any tools, sometimes in groups. They hunt whatever they can, mainly large animals like elephants, bears, wild horses, mooses...   They are also very capable foragers. Their body secretes a sweat like substance, which helps a land to grow new plants.

Biological Cycle

The primary difference as the time passes for Nomads is the development on their muscular and cardiovascular system; Hand eye coordination also improved. In some cases, their travelling perception abilities declined. The exact nature of their development depends heavily on their habbits.

Behaviour

They were generally peaceful to other species. They'd prefer to live in their own distant communities. Unless they sense a stranger to be dangerous, they would be mailable. They didn't see humans as having the capability to be a threat, so they didn't mind humans. They never directly attacked humans but as collateral damage.   Half-Bloods could be considered a threat or an ally, so they would be taken very seriously. Over the years, their relationships shifted. In general, geography and history would factor in.   For example; Magalian nomads have been known to threaten travelers from time to time. Or Barqaqian nomads in Afrika have defeated small warbands or mercenary companies. However, Western Nomad bands are known to work as mercenaries to Pynian Half-Bloods. Frost Nomads have long-standing deals with Naishans.   Their relationship with Proto-Proteans is complicated. There is some distance between the two species caused by the role Nomads played in the extinction of Royal-Proteans. But considering the modern conditions of Dun'Ia, Nomads are the closest remaining relatives of Protos. But from time to time, Proto-Proteans manipulate Nomads to achieve their own means.

Additional Information

Social Structure

There were three kinds of Nomad groups.   Pack: Also called Families. Smallest group in Nomad social structure. Every member would have something to say but would be led by a matriarch. If there were no extreme situations, they would remain in packs. They'd migrate in coordination with other Packs.   Party: Also called Generations. A Party consists of Packs led by a Mother. Would come together if called for a feast, celebration, mass migration or raid. Won't migrate independently from other parties or Packs but remain in a general area.   Herd: Also called Armies, consisted of both packs and parties and would be led by a Chief. A Horde would rarely muster; For war or to intimidate.   Nomads have the highest average sex drive of any specie. Males could copulate for days, while females would experience extremely sudden inflammation.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Their bones and Brains.   Nomad bones could be used in alchemy; as an effective material binder, coater, concentration material, and time to time, as a very effective sexual performance enhancer.   Nomads' brains had endless uses in alchemy. As decoctions to in structural, meditational, healing...   This potentially harvestable substances in their body, would cause some Nomad packs or individuals to be hunted by bone hunters, half-blood packs or even Proto-Proteans. Yet such occasions would be rare or wouldn't have serious results. The Leaders of Nomad Herds could even support this decisions.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Open plains, frosts, forests, and large land masses with faint populations prove ideal lands for Nomads.   Magalian Herd is the largest in the world. The lands they occupy allow them to travel constantly and encounter the most people. They also have the highest birth rate.   Naishan herd is the most advanced in alchemy and average fighter skill. Northern lands are the most difficult to survive; Limited food and water, hostile and powerful individuals or groups threaten them. Therefore they are distrustful of outsiders and skilled in fighting and survival.   Barqaqian Nomads are confounded in a limited space in central Afrika, reaching from its east end to the west. They are the bumper between Northern and Southern Afrika and pacify the vastly different and potentially hostile cultures. Barqaqians are semi-settled in their limited lands, displaying noticeable capabilities in Claychemy(Nature alchemy) and diplomacy.   In the West, there are no recognizable hordes. Numerous bands and packs are known to involve in local battles, either as mercenaries or independent groups.

Average Intelligence

Nomads display high musical, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal and naturalistic intelligence. Yet they are especially nominal on logical-mathematical, linguistic and intrapersonel intelligence.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

They had the traveling perception ability among them, which allowed them to perceive far away. It was much more active than others. It has limits of a couple of miles. Yet it was well optimized for the immediate use of information.   They also could see past, in a limited sense. The technique was called Xalchemy(A branch of Clairancy, also called one of the Lairkin abilities Some Nomads could see someone's history via their blood. Initially developed for hunting. Yet Xalchemy was a rare skill among Nomads and was relatively hard to use.

Symbiotic and Parasitic organisms

They are somewhat parasitic to humans, as they'd tame some small human settlements for their own benefits(Multiplication). These settlements would have some of the highest quality of life. They would thrive while other settlements would be endangered or have lack of food.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

They would be named by the pack or party leader at first, once they reach the age of 15 they'd choose a different name. They might change their names from this point on.  Their packs and friends would mostly give them a nickname according to their skills, traits, physical attribute or habits.(Such as Liel Angler, Kain Hookmn, Drytvy(Raitiv) the Eye, Javyl Finger) Their nickname would act like a surname.

Major Organizations

Naishan Herd; Most technologically advanced and capable in fighting. Scattered in the Naishan wildland, occupy a very large but hostile and difficult area. Distrustful to outsiders, but try to avoid bloodshed, as they recognize the power of Naishans.   Magalian Herd; Most stable growing. Their lands are very large, interconnected and bountiful. Can be dangerous to outsiders as they're very protective of their lands. Also lots of independent packs and parties scattered in Xean, Tiana and Drina.   Afrika Herd; Barqaqian Nomads, very large, diplomatic and semi-settled. Work as a buffer between two nations. Very social and peacifull to outsiders.   Doridora Herd; Among the smallest herd. Living in mountains, islands and valleys. They live isolated from humans and half-bloods only have some contacts with local Proto-Proteans and other local Nomad packs and parties.   Pyne Heard: Among the smallest herd, work as a mercenary. Among the best warriors. Living in mountains, forests, islands and close distances to cities. They are called to be herd by locals, but they don't have a centralized chef, their decision making relies on party leaders or majority of the members. From time to time, they rely Doridora herd on decision making.    These herds would relocate, change size, divide or would come together.

Beauty Ideals

Would alter drastically. Whom they'd find attractive would be very chaotic.

Gender Ideals

Free for all.

Courtship Ideals

Lets fuck first, we'll sort the rest afterwards.

Relationship Ideals

Regardles of gender, Nomads could become each others companions, ranging from 2 to 8. They'd hunt, sleep, travel and would live together.

Average Technological Level

Nomads have natural gits, which could be classified as technology Mist: Some elder Nomads(Nomad Shamans) are able to create a mist which confuses their preys and allowing nomads to communicate with each other more clearly while standing in it...   Xalchemy: Some nomads can see someones past by interracting with the said persons blood. A Lairkin ability which some proto-proteans and half-bloods also posses. But unlike others, Nomads can see the past very suddenly, low detail and precisely. Also their ability is known to be limited.   BarkArmor: A type of living armor, made by growing around the persons body, could move or modified as the person wished in moments, while being very sturdy. It protects, also nurtures the wearer but would need sunshine and water in regular basis.    Naishan herd known to develop their own alternative, called CorkArmor. Which doesn't require water or sunshine, but would be softer and provide lesser protection while needing less maintenance.

Common Dress Code

They'd prefer to be minimally dressed.   Wearing flashy clothing to nomad gathering could annoy Nomads. Or could cause them to ridicule. Not too much clothing, but decorations on clothing they find offputting.   Yet if it the crowd was mixed with other species, they'd respect the majority.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Sentinel Festival; Once in a Hundred year, every Nomad Chief would assemble on top of Pyne mountains and drink Pocha to remember their roots as a specie. Would take a week.   Peace festivals: Wouldn't have a predestined time. Arranged by Barqaqian Nomads to keep, Afrikan factions in line and keep the stability in the regions.   Unity Festival: Was held once in 5-7-9-11-13-15 years. Unity festival was a joint festival between Nomads, Humans and Half-Bloods. Where there would be contests, drinking and orgies. It would take three month, would be arranged by Na'thai I'tha. It would be opened to all. Even the most hostile of nomads would attend to it.

Common Taboos

Monogamy, vanity.

History

During the Royal-Protean dominancy, Nomads played an important role in extinction of Royal-Proteans. They lead the attack on The Throne and caused the highest casualty out of all combined armies.   Since the fall of the throne, Nomad population had been stedily growing.   They played an important part on ending Afrikan civil war. One of their herds, moved in a very central location(Barqaqia) in Afrika at a critical time, which resulted the sides to reconsider the hostilities as causing harm to a Nomad Herd could have grave consequences. Nomads, hosted the negotiations and acted as an arbitrator, which made them very respectable and loved in Afrika.   Nomads still defeat hostile war parties, police the area and host both sides in peace festivals to potentially negotiate further terms or trade deals between the two factions. These area is around Barqaqia river, hence the local nomads are called Barqaqian Nomads(Or Barqaqians).   During the inception of wars in the west, between Pynia, Doridora, Kaina and Skana Nomad bands were hired as mercenaries by Pynians. They still have a contract(For Nomads, written contract is meaningless. They hold their verbal agreement). However, they don't mostly take part in ritualistic battles of the west. But act when the lands are in jeopardy.   Magalian Nomads forced Drinan government to hunt down every Rychan in Magalia, with a show of force; They showed up with part of the Magalian Herd(About a million) at the city gates of Disha and demanded the Dishan Grandmasters to hunt down every Rychan within a year, or they would eradicate the city. Rychan's being 80 thousand, Drina was forced to send 50 Dishan Grandmasters with their bands(About 40 thousand strong). They exterminated almost every Rychan.   After a thousand years later from Rychan Genocide, a group of soldiers from free Poxay, a free city in Cindri island, have came into blows with a Nomad Pack. The Nomads were defeated. A western Nomad Band, demanded the criminals handed to them. Which the city refused. The band appeared at the city gates and demanded it again. But Poxian king captured them and executed the whole band. This was a bad idea... Within 2 months, Poxay was gone. It's every resident, buildings, farms even pets were destroyed. In its place stood a 300 meter long torch. Burning violet, Purple and yellow. The torch was made from the flesh and bones of residents. It still remains as a warning from Nomads to the rest of the world.   Nomads have always been respected by Magalians and Haaqanites. These two societies were highly inspired by Nomads.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Nomads are mostly a peaceful type of creature. If they are not attacked, they don't attack. Sometimes attend to city festivals and join unity festival in the great cities around the world with humans and half-bloods.   If they were to be harmed by a different specie like humans or half bloods, they could be very dangerous. They might simply hunt human and half-blood groups. Or at extreme cases, would destroy entire cities and built strange structures using claychemy. This would depend on the nature of the first offense, against who and its severity.   For example, when a free city called Poxay, executed a Nomad-Party who asked for justice for a pack, A nomad herd gathered in their gates and destroyed the whole city and built a 300 meter long giant torch, called ''Violet Flames''. It's flames would glow in violet, purple and yellow.   Violet flames is expected to burn forever.
