Starfall
Ancient Alternan Airship
The very bottom of it hovers perhaps a foot off the ground, swaying side to side slightly. The bottom forms a large orb at the back, a gleaming silver metal sloping forward to a series of support struts connecting to a smaller orb at the bow, the top of the orbs turning into the full body of the ship, a deck at the bow, the stern holding the bridge and more expansive chambers, turbines on the back glowing with a new crystalline-blue energy as they start to spin up.
The Starfall is an ancient Alternan airship in pristine condition, discovered underneath the remnants of the old capital of the Empire. Though it was built at least three hundred years ago, it did not take its maiden flight until 1257 AE, with Isaline Osler behind the controls. Since its first voyage, it has served as the base of operations for the party, giving them grand access to the world as they begin to build out the crew.
The Starfall can comfortably carry a hundred or more crew members, though the ship can operate with a skeleton crew of five or six. The true purpose of the ship was stated to be to right the wrongs of the Alternan people, according to a projection of the first Empress of Alterna, Relis Laurent, heard on the ship, though the specifics of this are as yet unknown.
Well over one hundred meters in length, the silhouette of the Starfall is dominated by two spheres, one roughly twenty meters in diameter, one closer to twelve or thirteen. Since the acquisition of the Theater of the Untranslatable, the silhouette is hidden behind an artificial curved hull, suggesting a repurposed pirate ship.
TRIVIA
- The ship has a fully-equipped kitchen aboard, and none of the food placed inside of it spoiled during the three hundred years it waited for a crew.
- The ship was built without access to a shipyard, and instead was built by hand in groups of two, using what Yves described as goldsmithing-esque hammers and copious amounts of magic.
- The Starfall's internal layout does not lead into the spheres at all. No internal or external access to the spheres has been found.
- The ship's power is from a partially-drained red crystal containing the self-proclaimed Queen of the Eidolons, Asura.
- When Orrey attempted to ascertain the ship's status with Libra, he somehow triggered an appearance from the spectre/hologram/illusion of Empress Relis Laurent. Laurent interacted with them all simultaneously, responding to their words and actions, before vanishing as they retreated from Alterna.
