Dwarven Lowway

A series of tunnels built by the Mountain Dwarf to connect their largest holds within Rilarr , and when that was completed it was expanded beneath the sea to the next continent as well. However, large portions were destroyed or otherwise impacted by The Godsfall when multiple Deity , both dwarven and non, were summoned to locations of power near the paths of the Lowway.

Purpose / Function

To provide a safe means of dwarven goods traveling long distances, and to provide a revenue source from tolls to use the system by other races and caravans.

Alterations

Large portions were destroyed or made dangerous to traverse during The Godsfall .

Architecture

Heavy use of squared columns and walls, with considerable engraving and runic writing, as well as stone and metal statues. Every 50 miles or so features a large open area, which at one point would have been a trade/resupply station, but most are no longer used, becoming ghost towns over the past 250 years.

Tourism

Originally, was very popular with dwarves, and their merchants in particular, as they were often affiliated with one of the dwarven keeps which had contributed to the creation of the Lowways, and thus had their fees waived. However, it was also popular with unaffiliated merchants with long journies or expensive cargo which could swallow the associated tolls. Now, though, the majority of the paths are frequented by roving underdark bands, traveling between the various pieces still usable to travel slightly easier or to have a stable foundation to build a short term camp in.
