Zuvinar
The Radiant, the Sustainer, Sower of Riches, Mistress of Flames
Zuvinar (she/her) is the sun, shining brightly on all of Drintera. She created the stars. The moon, Azboran , is her offspring. While she is the disc in the sky, she is also the fire on the ground, and patron of growth, healing, wealth, and industry.
Zuvinar wears her beauty and power with the pride only a deity can muster. She adores precious metals and jewels. On one hand, she is pleased to make crops grow and takes an interest in the health of people who worship her. On the other, she can be capricious and vain, as likely to blight crops and cause sunstroke or burns. She may be approached only with great care.
Shapes and Messengers
When visiting the mortal world, Zuvinar most often takes the appearance of a female of any sentient species with deep red hair, dressed in brightly colored silk and wearing shimmering jewels. Her arms and feet are bare, and where she steps, the earth smells of ash.
The only problem with Zuvinar’s human, elf, dwarf, or orc form is that it is too dazzling, and living creatures cannot bear to be in her presence for long. Given her fondness for attention and homage, this will not do. So she often comes to the ground in feline form, from a majestic tiger to a striped wildcat. You can tell it’s her by the glowing orange eyes and the warmth radiating from the creature’s body.
When she is less friendly, she might take the form of a human-sized serpent, spitting fiery venom into the eyes of those who displease her.
Zuvinar retreats from the world at night, to rest and perform her ablutions. But she is not without power. Frustrated by missing out (and teased about it by Tephera, Zuvinar took a handful of emeralds and made them her spies. So if you find yourself surrounded by fireflies some evening, be sure to keep a civil tongue in your head.
