Azboran (they/them) is the god of the moon, whose cool light bathes the surface of Drintera while their mother, the sun, is asleep. They are the patron of dreams, seafaring, and those who make their living by night: actors, sex workers, gamblers and thieves.

In contrast to their parent, Azboran is not vain or violent. They prefer to use cleverness over weapons. For this reason, some cultures regard them as inferior to the sun, giving weaker light and bringing less benefit to the world. But followers of Azboran know that their light is easier to bear. They adore beauty in all forms, love, sex, and stories. They inspire trickery to help the weak get the better of the strong and shame the prideful. They control the tides, so are not without considerable power.

Shapes and Messengers

Their duties keep Azboran in the sky most nights, but during the day or when they take their once-monthly break, they enter the realm of mortals in many forms, wearing the form of any race or gender. Generally they are short, with short white hair, and wear a white jewel on their forehead. However, they have many faces and can travel unrecognized when they wish to.

At night, they send messengers to their followers. When communicating with royalty or their official priests they find owls, who can fly silently between the sky and the earth, make a welcome bright impression when they alight. For more clandestine communication, to brothel owners or spies, they prefer to use bats, whom are regarded with no less respect.
