Atu Szeme

23 years ago, Lady Eirina Von'Della's entire family was murdered. Prior to the event, she admitted to being seduced by a handsome tiefling man who introduced himself only as Ravana. After she fled her estate, she never saw the tiefling man again...
Within the confines of the Von'Della estate, a living memory of the events that transpired 23 years ago appears to persist. Eirina was seduced by a tiefling man who urged her to flee while he faced down an encroaching force of smoky specters and ghoulish figures, led by a shadowy form atop a great black hound. When the black smog had faded, Ravana seemed to stare at every individual who assisted him in his fight, eyes lingering on Newt and Callon. In a dream, the figure mouthed two words: "Atu Szeme".

Encounters in Caliban

Having arrived at a familiar blue tent in the New District of Caliban, Ikaris removed a sheet from a mirror under the lights of a hundred candles... revealing the form of a familiar blue tiefling. One arm is restrained, a horn is broken, and his body is covered in ample scars. Atu has been imprisoned in Avernus by Ah'Shal for his actions against her. Once, he was lovers with the Goddess... but, things turned sour and she elected to bind him beyond the link he sought to study. Now, he does what he can to attempt to rectify his mistakes... and protect his remaining children.

A "God" of Another World

In reality, no shackles bind Atu, though he is imprisoned in a more abstract way – unable to pass through the gate that separates him from what he describes as his hellish world to what he desires: the continent and world of Dremora. According to the "rules" of the Dremoran worlds, Atu likens himself to a god of his own world. He seems to have a long relationship with the Goddess of death, claiming to perhaps be even older than her. Atu is a charismatic individual who appears to have no issues with telling lies or stretching the truth, but seems genuine when he speak of seeking retirement... and death. In a world where there is no death – only a warped cycle of "rebirth" – Atu has long desired a way to return to a world and place that is more like his most distant memories.
Atu only desires to carve a place for himself in Dremora and – once through – he'll even help the Goddess of Death close the very door he came through! Above all, Atu seems to value three things: himself, his bloodline, and the Lady and thought of Death. He claims to have played a role in "saving" the God of Death and regularly refers to her as "My Lady" without any hint of sarcasm or condescension. Despite his clear love for himself, he seems to have no intention or ruling what lands he is given. No, he'd much rather have his bloodline rule.
Of COURSE I care about you! You are of my bloodline, a part of me... and I LOVE me.
