Dreagasian

From warring zealots to scribes of the deep the people of Dreagasia come in many shapes and sizes, and even larger pool or causes and creeds. While many factions among the Dreagasian disagree and quarrel over a variety of ideals, one thing binds them together....combat! The struggle to survive over another. They commonly glorify combat, though which form of combat is glorious remains disputed.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Appearance: Horns, humanoid facial structure, draconic eyes, claws on hands and feet, wings large enough for flight, and a tail equal to three quarters their height   Height: 7-13 feet   Skeletal Structure: Rather than bones, dreagasians primarily have thick cartilage. Its pliable lightweight nature serves a crucial role in their evolution. Its flexibility allows their bodies to bend a bit before breaking, greatly increasing the impact force needed for a typical femur withstanding forces upwards of 18,000 newtons.   Muscle tissue: Elastic and sinewy allowing for immense strength without being muscle bound, actual strength metrics vary by class.   Nervous system: Highly reflexive, evolved for optimum reaction time and energy conducting abilities.   Lymphatic System: Metabolizes Lactic acid from anaerobic muscle respiration producing cellular energy and vitamin K. This allows them to exist in low oxygen or oxygen free environments without risking death, although, being without oxygen does put great strain on their bodies.   Skin: Thick dragonscale flesh making them resistant to blunt attacks and nigh bullet-proof save for armor piercing rounds. But can be easily cut with blades and sharp objects, this also makes them nigh immune to fire, save for temperatures over 3000 degrees kelvin.   Cardiovascular system: Unlike most reptiles, Dreagasian's are mesotherms, they have the ability to elevate their body temperature with the metabolic production of heat, but have a little control over their particular temperatures when in below freezing temperatures for extended periods of time. When their bodies begin to lose body temperature, rather than increasing their metabolic rate to produce more heat, a Dreagasian metabolic rate begins to slow more and more with the further decrease of temperature. This causes their movements to slow and their judgement could be clouded, this also affects their ability to generate and manipulate the energies of their sphere by over a 50% decrease when in temperatures below 20 degrees Fahrenheit Their lungs are efficient enough to allow them to hold their breath upwards of ten minutes   Fire breath: Two glands on the inside of their mouth connect to two small organs behind their lungs. Each one of these organs produce a different chemical that when these two chemicals combine in the presence of oxygen the reaction causes a massive plume of fire. Each Dreagasian's organs produce a slightly different variation of these two chemicals causing a uniquely colored flame.   Spray metrics:
  • Rate of fire: 0.1 Gallons per second
  • Effective range: 30 meters
  • Maximum range: 50 meters
  • Maximum flame diameter: 5 meters
  • Maximum volume of corresponding compounds: .5 gallons each.
Wings:
  • Wingspan: 20-25 feet
  • Minimum takeoff velocity: 55mph
  • Cruising speed: 125mph
  • Maximum flight speed: 150mph
  • Maximum landing velocity: 35mph
  •

Genetics and Reproduction

Dreagasians have all of the required genes to allow for each Grey to burst into the five subsequent classes. This suggest that there is a deeper cause for the classification of Dreagasians rather than a genetic lineage.     Reproduction: Binary sexual reproduction courtship dependent on cultural norms. Many classes mate for life but do not raise their children. Young are raised by the community as a whole.

Growth Rate & Stages

Egg: naturally, this is an egg.
  • Internal gestation period: 8-9 months
  • External gestation period: 6-7 months
  • Average egg size: 12"x9"
  • Minimum temperature: 58 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Ideal temperature: 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Maximum temperature: 800 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Egg shell: A silicate rich inorganic-organic composite materia formedl by the aggregation of nanoparticles within an organic matrix that arrange in fibre-like polycrystalline configurations. The particle number increases successively and, when critical packing is reached, they merge into early-nacre platelets this makes the eggs very durable able to withstand pressures upwards of 2500lbs
Hatchling: This is the Dreagasian's infancy period, in this time it will learn to open its eyes and unfurl its wings. The infant will not gain the ability of flight for some time but it is crucial that these muscles recieve stimulation and blood flow during this phase. Hatchlings are incapable of surviving on thier own and rely completely on their Denmother to raise it, and the generation that hatched with it. From hatch Dreagasians are capable of eating solid food and during this phase eat specifically uncooked meat.
  • Age of development: 0-3 years
  • Average height at hatching: 1-2 feet
  • Average weight at hatching: 35-45lbs
Fledging: At this stage the Dreagasian will master many of their core motor skills and begin understanding consequences. They will become more active and begin running and climbing over anything it can. Fledglings require a great deal of physical activity to help keep their muscles tight and their hearts and lungs strong. At age four they will begin their academic education, math, literature, history, science.
  • Age of development: 3-7 years
  • Average height: 2-5 feet
  • Average weight: 110-200lbs
Grey: This is the Dreagasians adolescent stage. Here the Dreagasian will tackle the inner complexities of their emotions and their personalities will become more defined. Their vision of "self" will solidify as they develop their own thoughts and ideals. Around the age of eight, their horns will begin to grow, and continue steadily well into their adulthood. At this stage Dreagasians begin martial training. This is focused in general hand to hand training, physical fitness drills, intermediate weapons training, teamwork exercises. Their academic load will also increase during this stage as they near the end of their childhood.
  • Age of development: 7-15 years
  • Average height: 5-7 feet
  • Average weight: 150-275lbs
Burstborne: At this stage Grey's are sent off to battle, as Dreagasian society constantly had some form of warfare against some enemy. In ancient times they were positioned as a frontline vanguard, and in more modern history they have been weaponized into artillery drop troopers. As per tradition, the Grey's are told as little information as can be kept from them in regards to the battle ahead. This is to instill as much anxiety into the young Dreagasian as possible given the mass adrenal response required to achieve a Burst State at which they will gain their energy manipulation abilities. Following their burst, they continue their battle fighting for the same side they started with, in terms of inter-classal conflict. Upon the battles completion, should the Dreagasian survive, they will embark on a pilgrimage first to the central shine of their new Patron, then to assimilate into their new culture.
  • Age of development: 15-35 years
  • Average height: 7-15 feet tall
  • Average weight: 275-410lbs
Adult: At this stage a Dreagasian will be full member of its society, contributing to its advancement and protection. They will participate in courtship rituals and produce young. It will grow more and more proficient in manipulating its energy and begin feeling the cost their abilities have on their bodies.
  • Age of development: 25-years
  • Average height: 7-15 feet tall
  • Average weight
The Ashen: Dreagasian's produce more and more energy the longer they live. Naturally their cellular makeup can no longer contain the mass amount of energy building up within them nor can the Dreagasian expel energy fast enough to keep up with overproduction. This causes their bodies to break down leading to their ultimate demise. There are four states of Ashen leading to Nova
  1. Crackling: Small cracks begin to from at the extremities. Overall body temperature increases. Mild skin irritation at cracks
  2. Shardling: Cracks intensify up the entirety of the Dreagasian limbs beginning to dully glow.
  3. Brightling: Cracks extend throughout the entirety of the Dreagasians body, they glow brightly and cause the sufferer much pain.
  4. Novaling: Energy begins rampantly pouring out of the cracks, cellular structure begins to rapidly decay.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Sight:
  • A dual nictitating membrane is a transparent or translucent third eyelid present in some animals that can be drawn across the eye from the medial canthus to protect and moisten the eye and remove debris while maintaining vision. Both of these layers are polarized to mitigate bright flashes to the eye; layer one drops light transmission to 38%, layer two further dropping light transmission to 14%
  • Tetrachromats having four types of color receptors in the eye. These give Dreagasian's the ability to perceive not only the visible range but also ultraviolet light.
  • Pupil shape: Vertical slit
  • Night Vision: This is achieved by the Dreagasian's having 8 rods per cone in each eye combined with the amount their pupils can dialate.
  • Total sight range: 9 kilometers
  • Effective sight range: 400 meters
  • Detail sight range: 15 meters
Parietal eye: This is a subdermal eye, vastly smaller than they primary two is located in the center of the Dreagasian's forehead. It serves as a light sensor that automatically triggers which layers of the nictitating membrane need to be active at any given time.     Hearing:
  • Hearing range: 20-20,000kHz
  • Sensitivity range: 1000-8000kHz
  Energy production/absorption:
  • Producer Classes:
  • Non-Producer Classes:
Secondary Nervous system: To avoid disruption of bodily process’ Dreagasian's have adapted an entirely separate network of neurons throughout their body that runs parallel to the primary nervous system for bodily function. While commands for the flow of energy through this system transmitted by the bodily function network the neurons that make up this secondary system are capable of detecting the signal within the nearby neurons.   Lateral Line: A series of small organs located on their spines, these organs act as a sixth sense allowing them to "See" without their eyes, they can see energy as their dominant energy type in the world around them. A vital adaptation for the Dreagasian to perceive manipulated energy prior to it having any visual effects.
