Bexa Birds

Bexa birds1 are small waders found in Kanix Forest and especially along the coast of Ahix Sea. They are the only extant birds capable of flight in northern Dragonía, a trait which has fascinated the local Ameders for centuries.
The Ameders have numerous beliefs and traditions related to bexa birds which vary between city-states; the people of Krystos observe the birds to determine when the berries on Ehí Shrubs are ripe, while in Þúnaarþ, being startled by a bexa bird is considered an ill omen.

Basic Information

Dietary Needs and Habits

Bexa birds mostly feed on small invertebrates by the sea, especially during winter, but in summertime they travel further inland to eat berries, nuts, snails and insects. This is most common in the western and central Ameder city-states, while in the eastern ones, the birds generally stick to the shoreline throughout the year.
