Demographics
Most of the inhabitants either belong to the west-óltratic tribes or are descendants of other mörkels from the western Plain of Kings, the latter having settled there during the Yfrigían Empire. A significant minority of ameder descent lives there as well.
Defences
The city's main defense are its thick walls of rammed earth.
Infrastructure
Aþalan is entered via one of two gates, one to the north and another to the south, both of which lead to the main residential zone. The palace is located to the west, closest to the river, while to the east is a plaza surrounded by temples to various local and foreign deities alike. The palace and the temple grounds are separated from the main section of the city by rammed earth walls, but connected by a cobblestone road used by royalty for religious processions.
This road leads through a series of gates, each made of two standing stones supporting a capstone, one for each of the six major deities in common mörkel mythology.
