Óvar

Óvar is the capital of Yfrigía on the western Plain of Kings. The city is located on the eastern bank of the river Óv in the southern part of the country.

Demographics

Most of the inhabitants are Yfrigíans, the ruling tribe of the kingdom, which is native to the area around the city. Those hailing from other parts of the country are mostly warriors forming the monarch's retinue.

Defences

The city is defended by a series of relatively low but thick walls made of rammed earth or turf, with gates nestled between watch towers.

Infrastructure

The city is divided into seven neighbourhoods via walls of rammed earth and connected by gates, making the way to the palace as meandering as possible to slow down possible invaders. Four of the neighbourhoods are inhabited by certain kinds of craftsmen, such as potters, weavers, tanners and so forth, one is used for the temples, another has a ceremonial plaza, and the one at the center houses the palace.
A shrine dedicated to the god Ötrar is located on a small island in the river, connected to the city by a bridge.

Architecture

Most of the buildings, including the palace, are partially underground to shield the inhabitants from the harsh winters in the region, the only exception being the temples.
