Forest of Aeria

The large woodlands east of the Miridian Mountains are the domain of the wood elves and ruled by the Elder Dragon Erythrius the Patient. The forest is home to several large elvish cities, most notably Autumnwood, Sylvain, The Tarnished Tower, and the capital of Aeria City. Though these cities are heavily populated, the majority of the elven population reside out in the forest itself in small communities or by themselves most of the time.   Aeria is also home to the largest population of Aven in the Imperium. They make their roosts high in the oldest, mightiest trees, building communities connected by rope bridges and often just rope lines. The Aven are considered citizens under Erythrius' protection and generally work cooperatively with the elves, but the two groups to tend to keep largely to themselves.   Not technically part of the forest, but still under the rule of the kingdom referred to by the same name, are the grasslands to the north and east. These areas are primarily inhabited by a mix of elven and miridian farmers with an understandbly sizable population halfelves as well. Trade towns like Babblebrook and Wright Harbor serve as economic hubs for these people, and have even seen them strike out into the Norinian Sea to establish colonies at Newport and Baywatch. This renewed emphasis on seafaring has renewed ties between the wood elves of Aeria and the Snow Elves of the Frostwood in Norinia. Having both come from similar groups of exploratory elves back in the dawn age, the groups share an inherent bond even if it has lied dormant for millenia.   Lastly it is worth noting that Aeria has seen a recent influx of high elf refugees from the fallen Sunsong Empire, most notably the crown princess, Vaelyria. The wood elves welcomed their cousins who managed to escape north, and have been integrating them into their society. The traditionally haughty high elves have been severely humbled by their defeat at the claws of an Elder Dragon, and some have struggled with taking charity, even from their kinsmen. Still they are finding niches and building new homes and will undoubtedly become engrained in Aerian society over time.
