Treyire
Geography
Composition: █████
Weather conditions: █████
Biomes: forests, mountains
Moons: One (unnamed)
The moon of Treyire has a special property: when people prayed to it with a well-defined and benevolent wish in mind, it would glow slightly brighter, and their wish would be granted. However, with each wish made the moon would project some of its energy down to the planet of Treyire in the form of a lunad. Despite being relatively benign, preying mainly on small animals and birds, urban myth soon arose about the behaviour of the lunads. Stories of them snatching and eating human infants began to circulate in the local folklore. Although these stories were entirely fabricated by detractors, soon lunads were hated and feared by the people, and when the link between lunads and moon wishes was discovered the act of praying to the moon was forbidden by law. By then, the lunad population was big enough to be self-propagating, and the creatures began to form families and reproduce without the need for human wishes. When the people saw that the lunad numbers were increasing rather than declining, they began to hunt the creatures. Lunads were culled from the cities, being beaten to death or shot on sight. The creatures took refuge in the local forests and mountains, hoping to escape the slaughter. Still, the humans continue to hunt them down.
