Blue Fire King

Dante Brando Serafino (a.k.a. Blue Fire King)

Blue Fire King, known more commonly as BFK or Beef, is a young human. Having discovered his abilities early in an unfortunate accident, he acted as a mercenary until arriving at TGC and meeting the Jumpers.

Physical Description

Physical quirks

BFK is ambidextrous.

Special abilities

Control fire: This turns all fire blue, hence his name

BFK is fireproof.

Explode: BFK discharges all his energy, creating a very powerful blast with a very large blast radius. This kills him.

Firewalk: BFK can teleport through fire. An example of how he would use this is if he blasted fire behind the enemy, teleported to that fire, then stabbed the enemy in the back before they could react.

Perfect spatial memory: He can remember entire mazes and the like so long as he's seen the area or has been there. Also acts as a sort of sixth sense where he can sense what's around him.

Attention to detail: Essentially, what this means is that he is extremely attentive and observant. Even when it seems like he's not paying attention at all, he actually is assessing his surroundings. He can notice very small changes in detail.

Apparel & Accessories

BFK wears a blue suit of armor with a helmet and reinforced arm and shin guards. He usually keeps the helmet off when not in combat but still wearing the suit.

Specialized Equipment

The Gentlemen: These are Beef's blades. They're essentially jian, which are relatively short, once-handed, double-bladed swords from China. They're surrounded by super-compressed fire that he can basically maintain without expending much energy. He keeps one on the right side of his "belt" and another on his back, left side (he would be crossing his arms to pull out his swords, basically; left hand goes to hip, right hand goes to shoulder).

Shield: Shaped like a football, covering his entire body and blue in color. Can sort of materialize at an instant, but is linked with his suit, so when out of the suit, he can't "call" his shield.

Mines: Small mines that can be detonated either manually or set to detonate based on a variable (such as motion or heat sensing). The suit has 20 of them, but when out of the suit, he usually only carries 5 at most and 2 at a minimum. They are about the size of golf balls. They can also fly around him, so as to protect him from enemies, acting as a sort of shield.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

BFK was an orphan. He never knew his parents, nor did anyone, as far as he knows. For the first 4 years of his life, he lived in an orphanage, completely unaware of his powers. One day, a kid pushed him and stole the toy he was playing with. This did not go over well in BFK's eyes. He grew very angry and pushed the kid back. The kid then threw the toy out of the window. This infuriated BFK.

As his anger grew, smoke started to ride from his body. The children started getting scared and causing a commotion. The orphanage workers ran upstairs to see what was happening. By the time they got there, the entire floor was up in flames. Several of the children were severely injured or dead. The flames grew. A scared, young BFK sat in the middle, crying.

By the time the firemen came, the entire building had collapsed and everyone inside was dead. After the fire stopped, in the middle of the ashes of the orphanage, among the burnt corpses of his friends and caregivers, was a young BFK, completely unharmed.

He was taken to a hospital, mostly because they didn't know what else to do with him. They tried to figure out what happened, but he was still in shock. Eventually, he was moved to another orphanage, but remained mute for months. The people who worked at this new orphanage knew of his strange story but tried to treat him the same as the other children anyway. They tried to show him care, but BFK remained distant. Two more years went by. During those years, he began speaking again, but only in short sentences, usually only a word or two in length.

One day, a very strange man walked into the orphanage, with the goal of adopting one of the children. BFK didn't know it at the time, but this man had been keeping an eye on him, waiting until the right time to make contact. He knew of BFK's past, that the fire was no accident, and that BFK himself caused it. BFK was adopted by this mysterious man. He told BFK that his name was Christopher Mason, and that he knew of BFK's powers. Luckily, the two got along very well.

For the sake of brevity, I will just say that this man -- who happens to be a weapon master -- taught BFK how to use swords and is the reason that BFK has such a unique way of positioning his blades on his body. They traveled together for many years, until BFK was in his early teens. The events of what made him leave are yet to be revealed.

Also, the name "BlueFireKing" comes from when these two first met. Christopher called him Dante, as that was his name, but BFK didn't trust him yet, so he told him not to call him that. Christopher asked what he would like to be called, and, since the two had already discussed his power, BFK said "BlueFireKing" because he was young and that sounded cool. The name stuck and now we have BFK. He hasn't been called Dante since he was very little, and often forgets that he even has a real name.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Stardust Phoenix: Star is Beef's best friend. They have similar interests and ways of thinking. They have a brother-like relationship, and often make fun of each other. They like to train together because of their similarities, and Beef respects Star for the way he achieved his goals through training and willpower.   SB: Beef and SB have a history, as they used to travel together (more info to come). He respects SB, and appreciates his sheer strength as a fighter. While the two don't hang out one-on-one much, they have no problem when conversing, and they aren't often at odds.   Midnight Shadow: Because Star and Middy are such good friends, Beef spends a decent bit of time with Middy. He likes her, but wants her to open up more to him. They get along, often ganging up on Star when the three of them are hanging out. BFK is oddly interested in the science behind her being a doll, which Middy is reluctant to talk about.   Deadeyee: Beef and Dead have an amicable relationship. Beef likes the way that Dead doesn't let things get to him, and will go to Dead if he just feels like relaxing and not doing work. He also respects Dead's power, but sometimes wishes he'd try to master his powers more because he believes he's more levelheaded than most Jumpers, and Beef thinks the more levelheaded people need to keep up with the more passionate ones.

Driver: BFK tends to talk to Driver more than the other Jumpers, enjoying the way that he perceives things. Beef is very interested in Driver from a scientific point of view, but also thinks it's fun to hang out with someone who sees things in an entirely different way. He's not sure about how Driver feels about him.

Vulcan Blitz: Beef likes Vulcan in a general sense, but the relationship is deteriorating. He doesn't necessarily trust one person having as much power as he does, but he understands that Vulcan, at his core, is a good person. He thinks Vulcan is kind of self indulgent, and may even be a little jealous of his power, but he doesn't harbor any real malice towards him. Even so, he's still weary of Vulcan.   Rock (Classic): BFK and Rock did not tend to see eye-to-eye on issues. They thought differently, and it could cause arguments, which sometimes got heated. Beef also is a little weary of the robots of the group, including Rock. That being said, they were still friendly with each other, and talked about a number of issues in order to better understand each other.   Crystal Kimera: Beef has recently started developing feelings for Crystal. He's not sure if the feelings are reciprocated, or even if they can be. The two have an otherwise friendly relationship, with Crystal being one of the people that Beef feels compelled to protect, probably the most out of anyone. Beef feels very relaxed when talking with Crystal, and is able to put his guard down to an extent because of her good nature.   Titania: Frankly, BFK still doesn't trust Titania, but he isn't about to attack her or anything like that. He has his eye on her, and he thinks she has serious psychological issues, but he may learn to trust her eventually. Even so, he'll never be able to get over some things, including her enabling countless acts of violence, without so much as batting an eye. On a personality level, they don't really clash, which is the one thing she has going for her in Beef's eyes.

Social Aptitude

BFK is sarcastic and uses comedy to diffuse tension, especially in the face of danger. That being said, he'll also often be the guy who tells everyone to shut up, so we can come up with a plan. This hypocrisy can get on the other Jumper's nerves occasionally. He is quick-witted. He is trusting of his friends, but wary of outsiders, until they've earned his trust. Unlike some Jumpers, he doesn't "look up" to any of the more powerful or senior Jumpers, and in fact, displays some form of jealousy when Blue Logic, Vulcan, and the "upper-echelon" Jumpers try to take control over the other Jumpers. This "rebellion" can be negative or positive, as BFK is a good strategist, thanks to his extreme perceptiveness, so not automatically listening to other Jumpers can have some benefits in the form of strategic advantages. On the other hand, it can also cause tension among the group, leading to uncoordinated efforts overall. Notably, he does not like being medically treated because it makes him feel weak and useless. Obviously, in case you couldn't tell, he is stubborn. He curses relatively frequently, but also possesses a strong, varied vocabulary that he likes to show off on occasion. Also, he has no problem with killing an enemy that is threatening him or his friends.
