Storms Report

General Summary

Less than a day away from Utford a terrible storm falls on the Ravenwood. Thunder and lightning batters the forest and when a lightning bolt spooks Keith, Badalona's horse, the heroes decide to look for a place to weather the storm. They come across an old, abandoned hut and manage to wedge the entire party and their mounts inside. Once there they weather the worst of the storm and Keith's gas before finally resuming their journey to Utford. Their welcome there is mixed. On one hand, the people are enormously grateful for the party returning Conne, their Reeve to the village. The already prickly Zuri Brawnanvil is not so happy. When the Five Fingers are unable to give a definitive answer as to whether they were followed by the hobgoblins Zuri lashes out at Badalona. Later Thomas Marchant is able to discover that Zuri feels guilty for not being able to restore his close friend, the Reeve, to full health. Meanwhile Marble visits Sudri’s Forge where the smith, Sudri, presents him with a Moon-touched Longsword as a gift to acknowledge the fact that the party could have abandoned the reeve, but instead put their lives at risk to bring him back. Worry mounts in the village at the thought of the hobgoblins arriving. Normally Conne and the owls of the Ravenwood are sufficient to protect the village but with Conne sidelined the fear of retribution being taken on the village is high. Badalona receives a dream while resting at the The Half Full Tankard which confirms those fears may be correct. Bali contacts the barbarian in his sleep to gloat that pursuers are closing in on them from two sides. After relaying this to Finellen Battlehammer, leader of The Ministry of Bells, the town are largely ushered to safety in the cellars of the inn and Finellen's home. A small contingent of villagers including Zuri, Sudri, Finellen and the local Fletcher accompany the Five Fingers to make a stand should the hobgoblins approach the village. At the same time Striker is sent by Alok Ravaralei to contact the Owls of the wood and request their aid. He is assured they will come, if needed. The would-be defenders of Utford discover horses missing on the outskirts of the village and Alo is able to discern that they were stolen by the hobgoblins who are heading back towards the village. Just then a plume of smoke is seen coming from Utford...
