Mailhands are considered a low tier of Godsear.
The lowest tier delivers important letters back and forth in small to medium sized villages, where the Godsear's Outpost can't manage the population. In areas that cover larger areas, they are equipped with a Monster escort to complete their journeys. The first and only monster accepted for the job was the Nirlelen Claw, loyal and calm monsters trained for the task, and well suited for travel with their thick fur and sense of direction. Towards the God Year /GY/ era, the Morlgan Hoof started to be trained, in more moutainous and narrow passages than the nirlelen claw can manage. They are tough to train, not very loyal and rather skittish. They offer more protection than the Claw if they are trained properly, and can carry more supplies, as well as travel further with less rations. While generally a lower tier, some Mailhands that a experts in their routes outside of towns, can be set in charge of an important mission, rising their rank temporarily and in some cases permanently. Usually called upon when weather, detour, and some cases their Monster companion expertise is neccassary where an ordinary military escort would struggle. Even with how militant and acceptance of being watched by the godsears, they understand not every situation needs to have an armed professional soldier.
