Dragon's Eye
The Dragon's Eye (Derk Akshi) is a volcanic island lying about 250 miles (400 km) southeast of Southport in the Black Dragon Sea. It is completely uninhabited, surrounded by smoke, ash, and poisonous gases and mists. The sea around the island is foul, corrosive and poisonous, whipped by wind and large waves. Approaching the island by ship is fatal in all cases. The crews of ships that have ventured too close are overcome by the poisonous atmosphere, and the hulls of the ships are eaten away by the corrosive water.
Occasionally, smoke, ash, and foul, sulphurous smells and air are blown from the island over Southport, causing residents of the city to suffer from ailments. The people of Southport see those episodes as ill omens.
