The Prophecy of the Unifier

Successful 'prophets' are really just smart people with a mind for marketing.

According to legend, between 1,700 and 1,900 years ago and when the structure of magic was largely unknown, an Al'Orphic monk residing in a small Gathers-Under-One temple (claimed to have) experienced a vision of the future. The monk, named Sits-Quiet-Sees-All, was regarded as a 'prophet' within the temple and across the pre-Alliance region, having made numerous predictions of great storms and events over the decades. Scholars, in retrospect, attribute these predictions to a high intellect, careful observation, and a devotion to knowledge rather than any magical insight.   However, this particular vision of the future was not one that was of the near future and instead concerned events centuries removed from Sits-Quiet-Sees-All's lifetime; atypical for the common fortune-teller or (claimed) prophet. As is customary among prophets, the prediction was formed into classic Al'Orphic format (that is, four lines, then three, then two, then one, and finally a single word), though the Rundic translation does not properly convey all poetic elements:
The magics of past and present, barely understood,
Must needs be brought together and manifest akin to law.
The One grants a shard of insight to another, mortal and flesh,
Naming them Unifier and scribe to the scope of the arcane.   Four shall they name brought about by power,
Four shall they name coalesced with care,
Three shall they name framed of words.   An era past and lost; an era new and fresh,
Times past and forward named and changed.   The One whispers a name of wisdom:   Agranthor.
Magical scholars have not been able to determine whether the prophecy was actually given during the time of Sits-Quiet-Sees-All or had been attributed to them after the time of Agranthor as a result of cultural appropriation (as has been the case with legendary 'prophets' of all nations). If a true prophecy, the implications for magic would be widespread and deeply rooted as no foundational evidence has shown prophecy to actually exist. Regardless, as the legend goes, Sits-Quiet-Sees-All felt compelled to inscribe this prophecy into stone upon marble tablets, which remain in the Center of the Mind within First Among the Last as a cultural artifact.

First-Monk Tour

We of the First-Monks invite you to enjoy the Center of the Mind and learn of the rich history of Gathers-Under-One, as described by original tradition. Tour guides are provided as needed. Please enjoy.   Were it not for the war, I'd want to take that tour (probably twice).
