'Eln' Honorific

Would that it were an option for elves. 'El' for life...

Among the Aemark Honorifics, the 'Eln' honorific is considered one of the most prestigious. Though it is not associated with the highest echelons of Aemark society, it is the only Second Citizenship that can be attained by deed, unlike the 'Aln' or 'Elna' honorifics for covenant and birth respectively. The deeds by which an individual can attain this rank are varied, but universally involve a significant contribution to the Aemark Kingdom.
As exmaples, individuals have granted the 'Eln' honorific:

• Founding a new settlement that expands the borders of the Kingdom

• Leading a military group to victory in a significant engagement

• Managing a massive, prosperous business venture contributing to the Kingdom's wealth

• Preventing the assassination of a First Citizen or Council member

When given the honorific, it is customary to also provide the individual with a parcel of desireable land previously owned by the a Council member or a Lord, though other areas have been granted when no one is willing to gift the land. With the land, the individual is awarded a yearly stipend of 25,000 Marks, which alone would place them at a 'Mal' honorific. For some receiving the honorific is life-changing due to a mediocre wage prior to their ascent. For others, it is a paltry amount compared to their existing wealth.
