Personal History

Your Name:
Every goliath has three names: a birth name assigned by the newborn’s mother and father, a nickname assigned by the tribal chief, and a family or clan name. A birth name is up to three syllables long. Clan names are five syllables or more and end in a vowel.   Goliaths present all three names when identifying themselves, in the order of birth name, nickname, and clan name. In casual conversation, they use their nickname.   Birth Names:
Aukan, Eglath, Gae-Al, Gauthak, Ilikan, Keothi, Kuori, Lo-Kag, Manneo, Maveith, Nalla, Orilo, Paavu, Pethani, Thalai, Thotham, Uthal, Vaunea, Vimak
  Nicknames:
Bearkiller, Dawncaller, Fearless, Flintfinder, Horncarver, Keeneye, Lonehunter, Longleaper, Rootsmasher, Skywatcher, Steadyhand, Threadtwister, Twice-Orphaned, Twistedlimb, Wordpainter   Clan Names:
Anakalathai, Elanithino, Gathakanathi, Kalagiano, Katho-Olavi, Kolae-Gileana, Ogolakanu, Thuliaga, Thunukalathi, Vaimei-Laga
  Where you grew up:
Whether it was with one of the roving clans, or within one of the many strongholds that dot the mountainsides throughout Demis, you were brought up around your kind. Though a Goliath may venture beyond the boundaries of their ancestral home, the call to return and embrace family ties remains steadfast in their heart. Your parents more than likely made their way back to their respective clan to find solace and build the foundations of their family.
  Who are your parents:
Family holds a significant place for you, but the true heart lies within the clan. While your parents may have imparted some early lessons, it is the clan that shapes your path. For young Goliaths, it is expected that you venture beyond familial ties and seek guidance from esteemed clan leaders and wise trainers who become influential figures in your life.
  What is your status:
Outside the relative hierarchy of your clan, Goliaths rarely hold any political or societal status. Since your people tend to return to their origins, many are not willing to take a position of power in the "settled" world. It should be noted, however, that there have been Goliath throughout history that have been revered and remembered for their incredible deeds, and many have been inducted into the The Champions and their subsidiary, The Champions Order.
  Why did you leave:
There are two main reasons a Goliath may leave their clan:
  1. The allure of adventure and the burning desire to forge a legendary reputation beckon every Goliath. Within your kind, it is not one's family but the deeds accomplished that shape our standing. When the confines of the clan offer limited opportunities for carving a name, many Goliaths set forth into the world, driven to return triumphant and adorned with honor.
  2. Ostracization. For those who act against the code of a clan, the punishment is usually death. In cases where the transgression is less severe or when a Goliath is closely connected to an offender, expulsion and exclusion from the clan become the prevailing response.
