Llunerian

The Men of the Moonlit River

Behold the tall and fair Men of the Northern moors and mountains,
Hail to the Lunar king on his chair of silver.
Kneel in veneration at his queen, who over the night reigns.
Weep now, all noble folk, for their glimmering halls are rent asunder.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

These people worked ever to develop a tongue of their own, apart from all others, for their extended lives gave time to labour in many works. Thus was forged the strange tongue and alphabet of the Llunerian people in their shining halls.

Culture and cultural heritage

Llunerians descend from a mingling of Rhumnarian, Lindish, and Anglëan cultures, which had gradually made their ways up to the glimmering banks of the River Llun. The neighboring Wal'Shönai also lent influence to the formation of Llunerian culture, bringing a touch of an older, more blessed time to the fledgling people.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

Within a week of birth, a newborn Llunerian is ceremonially robed in white and brought to the banks of the River Llun, deep in the forest. There, a priest of the Ecclesian Church performs the otherwise standard baptismal rites upon the infant, using the arcane waters of the river to wash away the sins of the Primordials.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

The Llunerians took a liking to the architecture of the Wal'Shonai, who preserved in their cities an image of their old glory in the West. Elegance and great height are the ideals of Llunerian beauty, and the fair city of Lluncastr climbed into the dizzying heights of the sky, putting challenge to the mountains that sheltered it, and even the walls were made with great artistry.
