Deadmouth Vulture
Vanomous (not poisonous)
Bald-headed, scavenging carrion eaters, vultures on Deadmouth Island rarely attack healthy animals, but may kill the wounded or sick. Vast numbers congregate around battlefields. Vulture stomach acid is exceptionally corrosive , allowing them to safely digest putrid carcasses infected with all manner of diseases. They gorge themselves when prey is abundant, then sit, sleepy or half torpid, to digest their food. A large bird, it has a wingspan of 140 inches, a length of 60 inches, and weight of 18 lbs. When threatened, a vulture will vomit, both as a defense mechanism against a predator and to lighten itself for take-off.
