Temple of the Triad

The House of the Triad is a temple dedicated to the deities of the Triad in the walled town of Bryn Shander. The stone structure is the largest holy place within the most prominent settlement of the Ten Towns. The House is attended to by clergy members that visit from the far-off cities, mainly Neverwinter and Waterdeep. The stone building that became the House of the Triad was originally built by the dwarves of Kelvin's Cairn.   The Triad is an alliance of three good-aligned deities: Tyr the Maimed God, god of justice; Ilmater the Broken God, god of suffering and compassion; and Torm the True, god of duty. After the Spellplague of 1385 DR, the dragon god of justice, Bahamut, became a member of the Triad, temporarily replacing Tyr until his return after the Second Sundering (1486)
The Order of the Gauntlet is a coalition of morally upstanding warriors, knights, paladins and clerics who dedicate themselves to the destruction of evil in Faerûn in the 15th century DR. They are a unified group, bonded by either their fervent religious beliefs or staunch dedication to enforcing justice in the realms. To these brothers and sisters in arms, evil had to be dealt with and could not be ignored. Members of the order are strong in their faith, using it to stand against evil forces. While this faith ranges from believing in one's personal god, it extended also to those considered close friends, and especially to oneself. Most often, Knights of the Gauntlet venerate either the God of Guardians, Helm; two of the deities of the Triad, Torm and Tyr; as well as the Poet of Justice, Hoar.

Purpose / Function

The temple stands as a place of worship to those who worship any of the Triad-related gods in Ten-Towns. As the Order of the Gauntlet is a migratory one, there are hardly ever just one caretaker of the temple - Someone from the order must stay at the temple until the next group of Knights arrives in the area. Sometimes this means that a knight might move to the premises somewhat permanently, if the shrine to the Triad is located in an area where there isn't much traffic.

Denizens

The current caretakers of the Temple belong to the order of the Knights of Polaris.
  • Merak Dinadán, dwarven paladin, female
  • Dubhe Gawain, human paladin, male

Architecture

The old stone building is less grand than the temple dedicated to Amaunator the Sun god, but holds time just as well. It has two storeys, the first floor dedicated to worship. The second floor is shared into separate living quarters, capable of housing several knights at a time. While the rooms are not in use of any travelling groups, they serve as shelter to those down on their luck.

Often the wandering Knights of the Order of the Gauntlet keep an insignia of a gauntlet holding a unique item. Knights of Polaris, a group serving under the Order of the Gauntlet, carries a pin of a gauntlet holding a shining star.
