The Registry Building / Landmark in Dark Heart: Maleficarum | World Anvil

The Registry

Headquarters of Section 13 , the Registry was constructed to John Dee's exacting specifications. While not classified as anomalous, the physics within the building can be quite strange and mind-bending. Especially within the inner library.   The Registry is technically two buildings. The Bailey, an octagon-shaped building surrounding a courtyard space. This is where most of the living quarters and amenities for the in house agents are. In the very center of the courtyard is a large tower, known as the Library.   The Library acts as an arsenal for Section 13 and an informational repository for all their aggregated data. Each floor is dedicated to a type of supernatural creature, like spirits and Fae Folk, and specific sections dedicated to each creature that falls into a section. These sections include whatever info might be applicable to the creature. Lifespan, abilities, natural social structure, weaknesses, firsthand accounts, hunting techniques, and any other detail someone might have written down for any reason. It is possible for non-members to get a pass into the Library, though anyone who does is highly supervised and materials cannot be removed by anyone but members of the Section.

Architecture

Closer to the stone construction from John Dee's home time, the Registry stands out on London's edges.   Constructed from stone in outdated 'gothic revival' style, the structure looks similar to the castles of the 16th century. Though it is often joked that when the world ends, the Registry will be the final hold out for England, the joke has never been put to the test.
