John Dee
Once advisor to queen Elizabeth the first, Dee was influential for much of his time in the English court. Even being the one to suggest the colonization of the Americas in order to build a british 'empire'. He did, however, fall out of favor as time went on.
Turning to occultism, hermeticism, alchemy, and other 'mystical' arts to make his pay, he fell into obscurity and died in poverty. Or that's how everyone thought history went.
On the day of the The Grand Reveal, Dee returned to the English court, with secrets only he could have known to prove his identity. His insights into the arcane vastly helped the English deal with their new supernatural issues. Much to the English's profit, they were even able to sell these secrets to neighbors and allies for standing, favors, and cold hard cash.
Now Dee is in charge of Section 13, directing it's operations and aiding it's more occult practices.
