Dark Heart: Maleficarum Who would have thought that those monsters we wrote about as a people, those horrors we hoped weren't real but searched for anyways, would come crawling out of the dark towards us.

The world has never been what you could call 'safe'.   Deadly flora and fauna. Disease. Infection. Starvation. War and any other number of things that humans can put humans through. Robbery. Assault. You name it.   Not to mention that we tortured ourselves with the thought of other things out there that we couldn't see, outside the horrors we could see around us. Calling out spirits and monsters for our misfortunes.   Then the Grand Reveal came. We wish we could go back to those days of waving off superstitious grandparents.   The Grand Reveal...a name worthy of a penny novel for something so fundamentally changing. So Earthshattering. It also gives the impression that it was one thing. One action or event that changed everything.   In reality, it was a collection of dozens at the same time, tearing the sheet that protected us from real monsters away by increments. Increments so rapid and close together they seemed like one quick tug. That sheet, thrown by the tug that released it, now settles on the light in our world, dimming it.   And threatening to choke it out entirely.
