Federal Bureau Of Containment and Defense

Established by the United States government in 1869, in response to overwhelmed federal law enforcement and military elements attempting to deal with the newfound threats the country and the world was facing.
Given a relatively blank check, the FBCD was staffed with experts on the supernatural, military personnel, and anyone the organization could scoop up that seemed to have a knack for dealing with the supernatural. Psychics, Pyrokinetics, Mediums, Mad Scientists, and even the odd supranatural have been recruited into its taskforces and expeditions.
Currently lead by Theodore Roosevelt, who was specifically chosen for the job, the Bureau has proven widely effective under his leadership. Even expanding to have offices and outposts around the world. 
Currently, the Bureau has a policy of live and let live, in large part due to its current head. Though once the organization is set on a path, it can be hard to dissuade it. For good or ill.

Culture

The FBCD fosters an atmosphere of team-based structure and large formation movements. 
It encourages its members to work together and specialize, as opposed to work alone, and to hit hard and fast with all available resources instead of trying to lowballing it due to expectations. It is not uncommon to have several teams of 5-10 working together on a case, each team themselves specialized for certain kinds of threats and situations.

Assets

An infinite budget (though the Bureau maintains several businesses in an effort to balance costs), the foremost experts on the supernatural and Mad Science in the United States, and a wide collection of arcane supplies, occult materials, and artifacts both known and unknown. 
Not to mention 5,400 some highly trained field agents, and a sizable army for use at its discretion.

History

When the FBCD was first created, it struggled for a year without definitive leadership. Unable to agree on a plan of action, the results were less than satisfactory. People quickly lost faith, and as monsters and terrors tore the country to shreds, it seemed like the FBCD was doomed to failure and dissolution. 
A young man from Manhattan would change that, however, making use of his popular status and a few political favors to get the chance to be placed in command. Theodore Roosevelt Jr, more commonly called Teddy, transformed the organization from a national embarrassment destined for the 'failed ideas' bin to something that the common man regularly thinks of as being able to help.
Be it werewolf, Alp, Geist, cursed object, or spell gone wild the Bureau has a taskforce on standby.
