Dalian Nobility
Dalian Nobility is a mix of hereditary and elected Noble Ranks
High Nobility
The Peerage (comprising the ranks Duke, Count and Baron) and Princes and Princesses of the Realm are considered 'High' nobility and sit in the Dalian Parliament by default, but there are a wide array of mid and lesser nobility milling around Grantshawk and other major cities, usually with their own agenda and almost always involved in some element of a scheme.Mid Nobility
Mid level nobility include the ranks of Viceroy, Baronet and Banneret Knight- and although a Prefect is not technically nobility, they are often considered of broadly the same rank and social status as mid level nobility. If they are in administrative control of a region, they have a seat in the Dalian Parliament.Lesser Nobility
Lesser nobility include the ranks of Knight and Lord/Lady. Their power and influence varies widely, and the term 'lesser' is in terms of their order of precedence rather than their importance!Precedence
In general, all of the High Nobility and most of the mid Nobility report directly to the King or Queen. Lesser Nobility report to either the heads of their family or the head of their order. In terms of who should give way in terms of social situations, rather than lines of command, the Precedence is as follows (subdivided by age if appropriate, with seniority sitting higher in the precedence):- King/Queen
- Prince/Princess
- Duke/Duchess
- Count/Countess
- Baron/Baroness
- Viceroy
- Prefect, Councillor
- Banneret Knight
- Baronet/Baronette
- Lord/Lady
- Knight
