Banneret Knight

Banneret Knights belong to the King or Queen's personal order. As such, they are usually exclusively drawn from the children of nobility, and the order is a small and exclusive one, with exceptionally good training. Banneret Knights are usually granted small estates near Grantshawk on their retirement, which revert to the Crown upon their death.

The title of Banneret Knight is always an honorific. The title of Knight is not hereditary- although it may be "inherited" in the sense that it is a privilege of birth, it does not pass on through succession. The title itself is therefore never associated with hereditary lands (although there is nothing to say that a second or third son who is a Knight may not also find themselves in possession of a hereditary title and lands should something befall the first-born heir).

Banneret Knights are referred to as Lord Ser or Lady Ser {First Name}, being expected as a matter of taste not to rely on their family name while a Banneret Knight.
