Bildrath's Mercantile Building / Landmark in Curse of Strahd-Prepare To Die Edition | World Anvil

Bildrath's Mercantile

Upon Entering:
The store is filled with total randomness. Bits of furniture are scattered around the store (rugs, footstools, a few chairs) A delicate ornate chandelier dangles from the ceiling above a few table containing a slew of things. Shelves line the walls with anything from backpacks, to tools, to cloths and such.

Notes About The Shop:

  1. Bildrath Cantemir will not buy or trade anything with the party. The last time he did so with a passer buyer, he received a cursed doll that periodically tries to kill him. He keeps it locked in a cage hanging from the ceiling. He does have some uncommon/cursed items that he is willing to sell at a discount. Most of them have been around so long that he just wants to get rid of them.
  2. The PC's can get into trouble here. If they continuously touch everything, have the Broom below start sweeping things up and break shit. Bildrath will demand they pay him or repay him by completing: SIDE QUEST: Last Week's Meat
  3. Items such as explorer's/adventurer's packs will be missing important items such as: rope, tinderbox, rations, and waterskins.

Uncommon/Cursed Items:

  1. Fleas In A Box: 1g = Five fleas in a little tin box. Anyone who welcomes these five fleas onto their body will only ever have these five fleas, as they will bravely hunt down and destroy any invaders to their home, including lice, ticks, mites, or other such nuisances. But they will always have these five fleas.
  2. 10’ Metal Pole: 10g
  3. Griffon Feather Head Dress: 5g = Obviously left over from a masquerade party. You find this in poor taste now that griffons are an endangered species.
  4. Two loaded dice (d6): 10g = They always show one random combination of seven if rolled together.
  5. Ink Stained Spell-Book: 5g = A spell-book containing some low level spell that are all partially unreadable due to a large ink stain penetrating most of the pages.
  6. A pair of bright orange shoes: 1g
  7. A small iron cage which holds a tiny two-headed turtle: 2g
  8. Anonymous Mask: 1g = A mask that completely hides your identity. It also makes you look incredibly suspicious.
  9. Personalized Bricks: 1g each = A wicker basket with a sign sticking out says “personalized bricks” and holds 8-10 bricks of different color with crudely drawn faces on them.
  10. Stubborn Horn: 10g = A horn of hearing you put in your ear. Once used, it stubbornly remains in your ear for 1 hour. It increases your hearing (advantage on perception related to hearing), but you cannot wear helmets for the duration.
  11. Dust of De-Appearance: 20g = Bag containing grey dust. It can make things invisible, but wears off if the object moves, is moved, or even wiggles a bit. Best used on inanimate objects or people who can hold really, really, still.
  12. Boots of blinding speed: 50g = Double your move speed, but blind you when you move in a stressful situation.
  13. A Blinsky Doll: Free = The "friendly doll" that Bildrath keeps locked up in a cage hanging from the ceiling.
  14. Small broom. When activated, will attempt to clean the dirtiest thing nearby.
  15. Rope that can only be tied into a noose. = 1g
  16. A rock that, when thrown, always hits its target. Always. Cannot do anything that you couldn't conceivably do with a really lucky throw. = 20g
  17. A wicker basket with a sign sticking out says “personalized bricks” and holds 8-10 bricks of different color with crudely drawn faces on them. One of them has a PC's face on it.
  18. A mask that completely hides your identity. It also makes you look incredibly suspicious.
